HELP me, plz!

**salaam

i’ll be travelling to India in February 2011, inshaa Allah. flying with PIA to Delhi has its advantages which i availed a decade ago.

i traveled from Toronto to Delhi on PIA via Karachi. since there was a lay-over of almost 2 and a half days there, they put me in a hotel FREE of charge during that period. i wasn’t required to obtain any kinda visa [not even a transit visa] they just took my passport and kept it for the duration. i wasn’t allowed to go in the city or visit relatives. my relatives came to see me in the hotel. there was no problem whatsoever. i again stopped in Karachi overnight to catch my flight back to Toronto. i had great time. i didn’t have to go thru the hassle of going thru the immigration/customs. it was a breeze thru the process.

my question is:

can i do the same thing this year? do you think the rules are basically the same? can ity be done with the same ease?

i wish it can be done!

Hashmat**

Re: HELP me, plz!

What PIA or any other Airline that gave you "Layover" is your right as per IATA regulations which states "Any connecting flight with more than 6 hours duration between connections entitles "Longhaul Passengers" to demand a layover, if one is not offered automatically by the Airline/Operator.

Transit visa, and transit-without-entry visa is usually offered when there are no Hotels within the "Transit parameters" within the airport itself.
Call the Airline before booking as they might have changed.
Its Good/Smart Practice to check information as such prior to departure.
Happy Journey !
