Some one is looking for short cut :D

Sorry Malibu Man, i wish i could help you - i'll move this to the Health and Family forum; Insha'Allah someone there will be able to help you out with your queries.

nadia_h, I collected the info you required, do check your PM inbox sometime.

short-cutter, your question isn't even phrased properly. I'd rather you spend time reading the question atleast before you come and post them here.

You didnt mention in what disease context? Thalaseamia..sickel cell etc etc. anyways i would still ask you to do some research on your own and only when you have reached a dead end then ask . so long

better scan those reports and post them here, if you have any tests done that is....

nobody can help you this way i guess!

For ? #1 i'd say look in the context of the ppl. inheriting two different types of HB protein chains so they'll move different distances on electrophoresis depending on their molecular wt. and charges.(that's all i could get in light of your question which
didn't explain whether it's talking about a normal Adult Hb. ,fetal HB,
or diseased Hb.)
For ?#2 i'd suggest search in the context of how e.g sickle cell anemia
protects from plasmodium falciparum malaria (genes esp. found in African Americans)etc. how when it is heterozygous
it does manifest as full blown disease etc etc.I'm not doing the explaining but InshAllah look for these points and elaborate on these
and your report will be ready.

Best of luck.

(I hope i'm not misleading u but this was the head or tail I could make of your questions).

Nadia_H, please let me know if you ever received my PMs. No word from you.

Sorry to go off topic.

2 HbS: if u are heterozygotous the normal hemoglobin will make sure that the abnormal hemoblogine doesn't agglutinate.....in homozygotous it doesn't clot together especially in cold.

2 HbS: if u are heterozygotous the normal hemoglobin will make sure that the abnormal hemoblogine doesn't agglutinate.....in homozygotous it doesn't clot together especially in cold.

sorry for not explaining things properly, i was rather vague about it all.

I just want to say thanks to dhoop for making an effort to answer my question, i wil remember you in my duas always.

as for the rest of you guys, im dissapointed with your responses, esp stray cat she has definately gone astray.

the question was in context of variant Hbs as in Hbs Hbc etc. The first question was pretty simple that i asked. It was basically how come in some patients there is a band for S and a separate band for C, like why do both come up. The answer i came up was that S is co-inherited.I dont know if thats a detailed answer.

anyway, thanks for ur time

^An intelligent question deserves a smart response.
(face it, you didn't even know how to ask)
Moreover, I didnt help because it was for your own good. Its not anything personal :) Had you been sensible enough and had cared to read, avoided short cuts and tried to work through the problem yourself then you would have learnt it and remembered. I am more disappointed to read your conclusion :/ What makes you so sure that its even correct :) But lets not get into that. Do keep us posted about your grades :) oh and dont forget us all in your prayers :) cheers :)

k

dear astray cat,
you said i tried shorcuts and avoided reading .................how do you know that i didnt do my research ?
You are assuming i didnt do any research at all, its bad to assume too much.

do you think a lab report is just 2 questions ??

the lab report assignment contained 50 questions , i only came to gupshup to ask 2. Lets face it, noone apart from dhoop knows abt the subject so hes the only one that tried answering it

you said your more dissapointed to read my conclusion, if your so clever whats your conclusion?? i dont think you know the answer yourself.

oh and i remember every muslim in my prayers but some people deserve a specific mention ie dhoop.

cheers

p.s are you the guy who lives in uk who has a big tash??

i wonder where stray cat has ran off to, wanted to tell the stray that i got 67% for that lab report she was fussy about.

cheers everyone for ur efforts
