Help me for my Peshawar wedding! I'm going to be upset!

hi girls

im not a pakistani but married a pakistani guy & inshallah end of year or first of new year will be my wedding in peshwar…

my mom in law doesnt know my language & my both sister in laws r abroad …so i dont have anyone to take help from her…
i dont have any idea wats fashion there…my all information is from GS but yet after downloading thousands pics & many videos i dont have any idea of wats the best…

also i have some idea for my dress that i dont know how can i apply for my bridal dress?..

no idea how ill have my wedding stage & decor & from where…
no idea for make up salon(thats may ill trust my ami jan)

no idea for any studio to know their styles for movies & shots to see if they r according my standard or not

im feeling so alone & feel i stuck with no ways onward…
wish i could know some girls who has information,if also from peshawar then better…

yup...i read it...well i do understand you wont be able to communicate properly but i guess talking about cooking would be good...like....i dun knw..! erm.,..appreciate her cooking etc and ask her how you made it etc...! :/ gosh that sounds so cheezy...:P lol
but if i would be in your shoes...i will talk about that kuz we all eat init...:)
do you like cooking? i mean if you dun then...do not talk about this topic as she might start to xpect u to cook...:Z

im not there i never were there & just for a week in wedding time ill be there not more...i like cooking im also cook for her inshallah but she doesnt like our food ,she didnt eat much here as our foods r with less oil & spices ,so no taste for her & she confirmed i cant eat theirs also as once she cooked in our home & i couldnt eat so she laughed alot that oh u cant we should make seprate for u...

and as you said you will be there for a week only...so i would assume you wont get much of the chatting time...and i am sure she is aware of the fact that you guys cant communicate a lot so i doubt she would attempt that...besides you will have your hubby...

and with the shopping etc...just leave it all to your ami jan...inshallah all will turn out fine...:)

o nida my pro isnt communicat now...now i have pro i cant talk i want this style or that style...first of all i dont know wats different between ur dress like u say anarkali gharrara sharara & etc...so i dont know wat to say ...i dont know tailor words to say i want this for my dress i want that....
so thats why im confuse too much

oh...try talking to your sis in laws and explain them what you need...! so they can explain it to your mother in law t and den she can explain it to the tailor..!!

i feel terrible for you that you have such a barrier...! :(

cant u buy stuff where you live and just take it over to wear...:)

i said above my both sis in laws live abroad...one has little baby so she doesnt get time to come online ...another one also has studies(she is so hardworking) u cant find her online also...

i have two bro-in law's wife...dont knwo them much but one lives in karachi the ones live with ami she was preganant now also having baby within days also she wasnt coming online as i dont know her much...
but i wished my sis in law were in peshwar then they would do all...

also where i live i never saw indian-pakistani dress...no shops here no one wear them to have it...no idea at allllllllllllllll poor me...
tonight i made my hubby mad that wats this life that u dont have any cousin who comes online & help me...lol

hehe lol...i can totally understand....why don't you tell me what you need...like...put some pics up here from the internet of the dresses you want and i can write in roman-urdu so you can print or write that out so when you go you can explain to the tailor or your mother-in-law...

no problem at all...upload them whenever you want...my comp is always on so i can check it anytime...no probs...:)

and with mehndi...it's not compulsary to wear yellow-green but most ppl wear yellow green...but you can also wear other colours...:) no probs what so ever...:)

i genuinley want to help you as i can totally understand you not being able to understand a particular culture all of a sudden...:)

i just want to ask one thing...which country are you from? i mean living in...kuz i am sure dere are some places that deffo sell indian stuff...:)

I don't think its that hard to be honest. I am sure you communite with your husband in some language.. English I am thinking. So all you gotta do is do your research. Find out specfic salon you want your makeup from, designers you want your dress made from. That's what I did. I was living here in the US, and had no help except my MIL's in Pakistan. I told her where I want to get my makeup done from (Thanks to GS). So they booked it. I think even when you tell your MIL pick a nice place this that, they are from a different generation altogether so you need to do all this yourself. I suggest give her specific names of designers or boutiques you like. For makeup tell her to book appt from a specific place you like.

If you can't talk to her directly, sit with your husband while he translates to his mom what and how you want everything. It really isn't hard sweetheart. Just the matter of doing research. I made notes.. Picked two good salon just in case one didn't have appt available. I did every bit of my research from GS. I copied pictures after pictures of brides to get the right red shade I want. I emailed my MIL the red shade. I told her how I want my lengha.. long kameez, deep red shade etc.

Search for peshawar wedding threads and I am sure you can find tons of information there. You can look for photographer's threads that are in peshawar. Compare the work, the photography and you'll know what you like. You can write down the name of that studio and ask your MIL to go with that.

for jewl ill need to set kangan with gold set or it can be upon choice as i did many brides have seprate design ...my hubby says no no its set but in end he said he isnt sure...so i can choose its design or should be set with other gold???

o dear its not that easy that u feel
first i dont know much abt pakistani fashion
then also no information for peshawar just i found make up salon information(& for that ill go same place my sis in law went)
pro is here no threads talks abt peshwar places that i know them that i can choose!
i dont know any place if not my MIL will be happy to do according my wish
another pro is...i live in one country-hubby lives another & wedding is in peshawar...hubby also isnt there to talk me to teach me urdu...

hey....I am from Peshawer, but I live in Canada. a few of my cousins just got married in Peshawer, so I can ask them about the places they visited. What types of places are you looking for? Bridal salon? Places to make wedding lengha (wedding dress)? I think there is actually a thread on this site about places to shop in Peshawer as well.

And also, if communication is a problem, you should print out any pictures of dresses you like on this forum, and that way you can show the tailor what you like, and what you dont like....because I know from experience (my urdu isnt very good), that its better to show them a picture so they can see it, rather than try to explain it in broken urdu.

quick translation for you:

gharara - any length shirt (this is your preference), and the bottom has 2 legs - usually loose from top to bottom - and at the knee, all the fabric is gathered to make it look crinkly all around your knee

sharara - any length shirt (your preference again) - bottom has 2 legs, but these are slim at the top, and then it flares our

Lengha - any length shift - bottom is like a skirt - the skirt can be fitted at the top and then flare out (this is called mermaid style), or is can be straight from top to bottom, or it can be loose - this is all personal preference.

If you can post pictures, post some, and I can tell you what they are called.

dont worry, and dont stress yourself out!! this is a time to enjoy yourself! Im sure your mother in law will help you with all your shopping, even if there is a language barrier......everyone speaks the language of clothes!
