singe breasted, not a mac front where the buttons don’t show
must be navy, could go for dark grey as well- but navy is a very strong preference
belted w/ removable belt if possible
removable quilted or mix of quilted and wool lining, prefer buttoned but zippered could work
shoulder epaulets, if possible
not a short trench which just covers the bum but not those below knee length ones. above knee length.
and
not burberry or acquascutum, seen their stuff.
this is the closest thing in terms of color and length and front.
very light half lining on the jcrew coats. most is unlined and the lining is very light. I am looking to have something fairly multipurpose with a heavy lining which I can add or remove depending on weather. with my travel and a goal to travel light, what I noted would serve in almost all conditions. not black because it looks off in day time, not tan because its not that great for eves :) single breasted so its cleaner, epaulets and belt is for character or it may look like a lab coat :D
yes, I am a very hard person to shop for, even for myself :D

You familiar with Joann? The fabric store of course.....:p Has all kinds of loose kapra of varying colors, textures, and patterns. There you can also find a myriad of buttons, zippers, and even bejweled embellishments if you're into that. Just sew your own trench coat.....vaisay tumhay nahi milegi. :D

actually, i am serially considering getting my own made.
something versatile like that in a clean classic look which will last for years. I don't think Joann fabrics would be carrying the quality of fabrics and materials I require, plus finding a tailor who can make it well would be hard. I may have to get it made on my next trip to London.
Thank you the brooks brothers one is nice, almost what I was looking for, will go try it out this weekend. there are a couple of nice to haves it does not have but does have most of what I was looking for, price is excellent and brooks brothers quality is usually pretty good.
the second one would not work even if it was much much cheaper, no detachable liner
or US
yep, thats backup option, back in UK in 2.5 months, so if i have not found something by then, mackintosh or brooks bespoke would be the answer.
