HELP - Ladies with dry skin!

Basically, I have noticed my skin (on my face) get dry and stay dry for the past year. I hate it cos it makes my make-up look horrible too no matter how much I moisturise and use primer on it.

Which of you ladies suffer from dry facial skin and how have you combatted this? It’s seriously p***ing me off now.

Re: HELP - Ladies with dry skin!

  1. What are you using to moisturize and how often do you use it?

  2. What primer and foundation do you use? Do you put powder on top?

Re: HELP - Ladies with dry skin!

Personally I have had a positive impact on my skin by using bees wax based creams.

Re: HELP - Ladies with dry skin!

  1. I use Aveeno moistursing cream and use it twice. Once in the morning and once in the night after removing make up, cleansing etc.

  2. Primer is illamasqua satin primer and foundation is Dior star foundation. Yes, I just run my brush lightly in my powder and dust it on my t-zone.

Re: HELP - Ladies with dry skin!

Do you have a name for this type of cream?

Re: HELP - Ladies with dry skin!

It’s called Burt Bees Hydrating Intense Night Cream

Re: HELP - Ladies with dry skin!

  1. I think you need something more heavier to moisturize at night. Personally I would recommend getting some type of oil (Jojoba, Argan, Rosehip, Emu etc.). You can buy them at Garden of Wisdom (website) for very reasonable prices. Apply this at night and by morning, it will soak in. If you’re really against oils, then I would recommend getting a heavy cream from Ponds, Lancome or some other brand and using that at night. Go through product reviews on makeupalley.com before purchasing.

  2. Are you washing your face with a cleanser in the morning? If so stop. Only wash face with cold water. Unless your face is really oily or whatever…don’t use a cleanser.

  3. I think the primer is fine but you should look into other foundations. I scanned through some reviews on makeupalley and several people mentioned getting dry patches. I see you’re in UK so not sure if getting foundation samples is a possibility but if so, I strongly recommend getting samples of few foundations that are meant for dry skin and trying them out to see if it makes a difference.

Re: HELP - Ladies with dry skin!

My sister uses Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser and Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream daily

Re: HELP - Ladies with dry skin!

1- Exfoliate
2- Hydrate

Re: HELP - Ladies with dry skin!

Aveeno is not enough, it is too light for our skin type. Use a thick moisturizer, something that has the same texture of Nivea/Ponds. And use straight up oil at night.

Re: HELP - Ladies with dry skin!

Apply a thick layer of Petroleum jelly before sleeping.

I dont have dry skin usually but it gets dry during winter and this is what I do apart from applying honey directly on my face sometimes. It hydrates and soothes the skin.

Re: HELP - Ladies with dry skin!

When I am going through a dry skin period…usually during the colder months…I stop everything and use OCM for moisture.

Look up OCM online and use it…this will restore and balance the moisture in your skin and make your skin glow.

Vichy has this deep moisturizing lotion… Aqua Thermal i think… it’s in a small blue tub, it’s ridiculously good and targetted specifically for dry skin. I don’t have dry skin but i tried it and it makes ur skin soooo luxuriously soft and supple… it’s amazing.

Re: HELP - Ladies with dry skin!

my wife use lakmie foundation

Re: HELP - Ladies with dry skin!

Drink plenty of water. In addition to the above suggestions, try applying a honey mask…using good quality honey. It locks in moisture.

Re: HELP - Ladies with dry skin!

Clinique Moisture Surge Intense.. I get Psoriasis so my skin can sometimes become crazy dry and for me that works best.. gets rid of any patches and leaves it lovely and smooth..

They’re keen on giving out free samples so you could try it for a bit and see how you get on..

Re: HELP - Ladies with dry skin!

Yea definitely get a sample first. This is a great example of how different products effect everyone. This made me break out. :bummer:
