..I just finished reading Leaving Las Vegas by John O’ Brien. Absolutely devastating novel. Beautifully written but a very moving story of a love affair between a down and out prostitute and a extreme alcoholic who is drinking himself to death. Also features an Arab (Omani) pimp! Great book. (The film based on the book is also excellent with Nicholas Cage and Elisabeth Shue). It is also poignant since the author died shortly after the book rights were sold to Mike Figgis who wrote the script–of alcoholism.
