Help for the Victims

This has been the worst that has happened to our country…hope it never happens again. I remember the Ojri camp day with explosives flying over our heads, apparently that wasnt half as bad.

But as the stories i had heard of how our nation becomes one in times of extreme need leaving behind all differences are proven true to the core we feel pride and the urge to do something, anything. Before I could get to my senses and finish checking on everyone i know in the affected areas, family, friends in Isl, pindi, abbotabad, Lhr, C-130s full of aid and aid workers had already arrived from the UAE and Turkey, while more got in early morn from UK…what had i done by then?

Outside on the roads and mosques various NGOs and political parties are collecting anything anyone could offer the country. The president and prime minister both have opened their respective relief funds that ppl can contribute to. All local and satellite channels have created their funds for ppl to send aid and supplies to. Great prompt efforts by all means. planes full of supplies took off from PAF base faisal today and ppl flocked in to hand over goods to be loaded.

Now one thing thats obvious is that the ppl affected have not just lost loved ones, they have lost all they had…lives, homes, belongings, assets, investments, businesses…they will need our help not just with food, medicine, blankets, tents, but with far more than we can at this moment perceive. and not just for few more days, but perhaps for years…we are all they have…

So, we all in whatever capacity ought to be doing something, i’m sure many must have already done alot, let’s start and keep up the good work.

We all can do alot to help out in various ways individually and approach any of the organizations executing relief work right now. The president and prime minister’s funds, the army’s relief camps etc. The Police, Edhi, PAF bases and civil airports. No matter where in the world one may be, these organizations can be reached through their bank a/c nos. being announced on Pakistani channels all over the world.

Like our countrymen are doing their best to practically help out as best as they could by cooperating with the authorities and helping each other, let’s also make sure we too follow the example in daily conduct in real life and also right here in the forum. Bury the differences for once and create harmony, recognize the ill wishers and sabotage their attempts of sabotage by not falling as low. the lowest we can fall right now is creating disputes based on caste, creed, religion, politics and int’l disagreements.

The hour demands much more from us, so let’s do whatever we can for the country and our fellow countrymen whatever we can in any way we can.

If anyone has any ideas or suggestions for all as to how to approach anyone, how to locate a missing person, how to contact an organization and offer aid, please come ahead and post the info, addresses, acc nos. in this thread.

God bless Pakistanis, God bless Pakistan.
