help a guy out - valima decorator in Toronto

anyone who follows the forums might know im getting married in october

valima reception is in Toronto on October 25. Narrowed down catering and most of the other vendors, but really struggling with decor.

I’ve been looking around but just cant seem to settle on something that I like…im meeting with one vendor near my place in markham

do y’all have updated recommendations for decorators? amna rather at lemon truffle is not available, and honestly i cant find any recent discussion on decorators here…ive seen a bunch of sites but i just cant seem to find what im looking for

im really stuck and could use some advice!

as an aside, im trying to conceptualize my layout. I’d like to have a nice stage, and then I suppose some separate head tables for parents and close family, and then maybe a table to the side for my wife and I when we decide to eat…is taht the right way to organize it? I suppose i also need a receiving table and money box or some such…

Check out "the perfect setting" by Naphisha... Have the tables setup in a U-shape in front of the stage and dance floor (if you're having one) and have the closest tables on both sides of the stage reserved for your immediate families and then the next table for cousins and then in front of the dance floor/ opposite the stage have your friends seated so they can get the crowd going if you're having some entertainment. My hubby and I got married in August Alhumdulillah and at dinner time we chose to go to a conference room to eat (ours was at a hotel). Just because it would've been too crowded as our family tables were full already and I don't really like eating in front of everyone especially being the bride all eyes are on you and knowing me I'd probably get nervous and spill LOL. BTW I doubt you both will get the chance to sit and enjoy your meals lolllll it happens with much difficulty because so much is going on and you both are the center of attention so you both might be able to eat a little and then be expected back on stage to get the night going and there might even be a picture session while most ppl are still eating. As for the money box we decided not to keep one, instead guests from my side gave envelopes to my mom and his guests gave it to his mom, the next day both mom's made a list of who gave us a gift so that we know who we need to return the favour to when they have a wedding in good gesture. Also remember: many things can go wrong just make sure you both keep a big smile on your face and enjoy your big day! Be more excited about the marriage than the wedding.. the wedding is just the beginning to a wonderful journey! I wish you both the best IA. Let me know if you need any help with ideas :)

Re: help a guy out - valima decorator in Toronto

^thank you so much

honestly i feel the reception will be very boring...we will not have dancing as neither of us are big fans (although the floor will be there since our hall has that area included right in the centre), and Im actually a very private person so I dont have alot of nice pictures or anything to put for a slide show or anything...pretty much it will be people arrive and eat appetizers...then the MC will thank everyone for coming and outline our short program, followed by an entrance from us...i suppose after that we will be on stage and people come greet us for a bit...then later on dinner and a bit after dinner has started will be sppeches after speeches will be dessert and since its a sunday i expect people will leave early

i duno if thats a good programme or not! maybe we might have a cake cutting ceremony in between lol
