I just want to clarify a fundamental difference. Islam did not permit four wives. Islam limited men to four wives during the times when men used to marry multiple, and up to 99 and more women. If you look at the allowance of four wives from that perspective, you will find it a huge favor to women (of that time) than an injustice.
