Why does it make you sound like this:
Plus, is it safe to inhale? I soo want to try it! :cobra:

Re: Helium!
Have you never tried it before??!! ![]()
It makes you sound like that because helium happens to be lighter than oxygen [and other gases we breathe] …so when we breathe in helium it mixes with air and it results in a less dense “mixture”…so when you breathe out and the mixture passes through your vocal chords, the tone of your voice changes - your voice will sound higher in pitch.
Equally, if you were to breathe in a heavier gas like sulphur hexafluoride, the opposite thing would happen - your voice will sound lower in pitch…![]()
Re: Helium!
oooooohhh interesting!!!
The next time I get my hands on some helium balloons, I’ll so give it a try but not before letting my parents know where you live… just in case I die. ![]()
Re: Helium!
I have always thought it was interesting that it makes your voice HIGH PITCHED for a few seconds...
Re: Helium!
NERDDDDD … DORKKKKKK
Re: Helium!
Pssshhhhhh, it’s perfectly safe…i think.
That’s because as the helium gas escapes from your lungs, regular air makes its way back in…thus normalising your voice.
If you were to breathe in sulphur hexafluoride, it would take a little longer for your voice to normalise, as it’s a heavier gas, so it hangs around your lungs for a little longer.
And what…:khums:…so are you, admit it!! ![]()
