Heels

I’ve been watching some video and it said that heels are haram… Now is this true?

Most of my shoes are heels.

Re: Heels

Why would heels be haram? Not that I'm some Islamic scholar but I don't think I ever read any mention of high heel shoes in the Quran.

Re: Heels

Kisi ko marna Haram hai ;)

Re: Heels

No.

Re: Heels

Sounds like one more thing these mullahs are trying to take away from us.

Re: Heels

Some ppl say the click clickety noise is haram or that if you're trying to look taller etc that's misleading or something and they bring up the issue of 'safety'

Of course those arguments could apply to a million other (inc halal) things as well..

Heels

Wow, not to offend anyone by any means who may follow that... But what will they think of next??? All these new additions to what's haram/halal. Way too extreme IMO.

Re: Heels

Because you are emphasizing your taang especially with those capris.

Re: Heels

Because heels show off your behind and make you walk sexy.... Or in my case like an old crippled lady

Re: Heels

What I found is it is not haraam, it is disliked. Still,it depends on your intention of wearing. Heels are not only worn for looking taller or attracting men or making your behind prominent. I am 5'8 tall and I HAVE to wear some heels because of a dropped foot arch and severe plantar fasciitis in heels. So I have a medical reason for wearing them instead of flat shoes and I dont think it can be proven 'disliked' or 'haraam' in such cases.

Kakee, at this please choose your source about questions/confusions regarding islamic laws carefully. You might find loads of unauthentic extreme laws and rulings over the web which are misleading :)

Re: Heels

^ You are right. I've also heard it is *disliked *when you are in the presnce of na-mehram men. Haram is such a strong word, you can't use it like that. Things that are made haram are explicitly mentioned in the Quran. Terming everything haram in itself is a gunnah (or so I've been told) because its a big big thing.

Re: Heels

See I know that, main reason why religion first scared me off was, because of all the restrictions I kept reading.

Re: Heels

Islam as a religion is about loving the Creator and agreeing whole heartedly to submit to His likes and dislikes, once that happens small things like these should not be the cause of being scared away.

Re: Heels

you need to find out the do's first and then the dont's. Every "dont" will have beautiful reasons that would really convince you about it being disliked and prohibited. It's just how you're explained the details of it,hence the need of proper learned persons or sources because unfortunately you might find plenty of people who'll easily portray how barbarian and anti-human Islam is !

Re: Heels

Ummmm
It wasn't from anti-Muslim forums or videos.
I just don't agree with some websites or ideology.

I like to believe that I have good judgement but it still makes me cringe reading stuff like it.

Heels

^ I can completely understand and relate to that kakee. I used to question things and then when I got married and moved away from my family, I seriously missed the religious practices that my parents followed and didnt even realize i just took them for granted because I had no clue how to maintain those same things in my new home by my own discipline. I have only started to recently question a lot of new things that I have started to hear from more conservative people in my husbands crazy extreme community, which really annoys me because now it seems like theres a shift in mainstream beliefs to more extreme ideas that were never around before and everyone is jumping down your throat about whats haraam/halal everywhere you go.
I come from a very strong practicing family where I was told I shouldn't do this/that, wear this or that but we have a good balance as well, not completely ignoring the day and age we're living in today, so you can have both. You can. My family told me and allowed me to make decisions for myself which really helped my following. In reality, Islam is really flexible and the basic foundation of being a good Muslim is somewhat lost IMO. So that's why it seems (to me at least) that there's a divide, your either a good Muslim or a bad Muslim. And everyone thinks their good Muslims and therefore it's their duties to tell you what your doing wrong. I hate that, seems to be everywhere but like proto and reha said it all depends in what your reading, whose guiding you and where your information is coming from. If you don't agree with something, your encouraged to look into because that's the only way for you to find out what's right. Just make sure your getting information from reliable sources, like anything in life. :) trust me I'm no scholar but that's been my parents number one teaching, that Islam is there for you, it's simple and clear, it just takes discipline and effort (like all things in life nothing is handed to you, you work for it).. Unlike today where things have become so complicated and jumbled...

.... I don't know why but I feel like I just went on a rant lol. Sorry! Seriously did not mean this to be a religious post!! It just came up. :)

Re: Heels

OM I have spent a fortune over heels or pumps all my life !

Re: Heels

you are not alone.......everyone feels this way.
that's why I always appreciate people who encourage rather than point out failings.....
wear your heels.....enjoy them because they make you happy and a happy you is more likely to make others happy.

yeah.....the heels may not be as disliked as the fortune that we have spent on them that could have gone to better use.....
