I dont wear heels as such, but over the weekend I did a daavat and so was working a lot and my heels were killing…it actually helps when someone sits on them or applies pressure on them…
do you know what the cause could be?
what can I do to help ensure I dont have this pain again?

You need to see a podiatrist if following does not work. He/she may do x-ray.
Use special shoes or insoles which are available in market. Some shoes for this purpose are very expensive for no real reason though. So be smart and look around.
Wear soft flip-flops if you have wooden floor.
Read about plantar faciitis, but spurs or bad foot arch may be the reason.
Injections of steroids may be prescribed if true inflammation but some limitations there.
If it is in back of heel then that may be tendinitis.
All conditions may require simple pain killers (antiinflammatory) anyway to begin with.

I have this one...and trust me it is NOT good...I have it on both my feet....I got it coz my work always requires me to walk a lot...and the dress code was with HEELS!!!
I remember at one point I could not walk at all...I could not feel my feet any more..I had to go for therapy, and acupuncture as nothing else was working...after that time..I wear an ankle guard when I feel its acting up again...but it never really goes away completely.
I dnt wear heels unless it is ABSOLUTELY necessary..specially if the floors are tiled, and marbled...marbles is the worst coz of the cold too..

Sorry that you had to go through this. :(
There is a saying " something is so painful or nagging like the achilis tendon" just because this disease is so painful for people.
Actually, its not like they are injecting anything in…its just acupuncture…u dnt feel a thing..but when the therapist is massaging my tendons, I really want to KICK her..it is soooo damn painful…
I am having it right now..but not sooo bad..and it is after 3-4 years its back..so my ankle guard is back on…but I am not even wearing heels these days..jst sports shoes, as I am doing part-time job so I dnt need to wear heels..but I think this time its the hard floors, cold and the walking that brought it on
Nope…I have never taken any medication for it…only therapy…but sometimes..its weird..when I walk with it..it doesn’t hurt…but its when I stop for a moment and then try to take a step..i feel my foot getting disconnected from the rest of the leg..and I dnt know how many times I have almost tripped coz of that
Tabu G take a pain killer and try for some massaging type thing. if it doesnt work then go to the doctor. or maybe soak ur feet in warm water with little salt. Try this there no harm in dong. maybe this may benefit u
I dont wear heels at all...i only wear flats coz i have mashallah good height already...
my heels are fine now, it was only over the weekend i had the pain...mainly coz i had a dinner party so spending all day cleaning and cooking probs got to me...will go docs to see if everything is ok..
apparently runs in family and in the past doc has said its lack of vitamin D :S lets see what he says to me now..my dad has had steroid injections in the heel and that has helped...
