On the advice i was given by you lot i went to my Drs - my cough was just an ongoing cold but my Dr huffed and when i told him about my chest pains. He thinks i’m having him on ..his reaction was..
‘high cholestorol at 23!?!?!?!?!’ bang (throws my med record to one side)
‘Go on get outta here..i don’t think i’ll be seeing you in a while’
Why do i have such bad experiences with Drs? I mean this one was amusing but he didn’t take me seriously and i’m still having them. The bleedin’ chest pains are there..they’re more twinges than pains but what the hell yea meri ijjat ka sawal hea ( he thinks i’m an over reactive paki )
how long have you been having these chest pains? Temporary chest pains are nothing to worry about but if it's been going on for more than 2-3 weeks then it is very possible that you have hearburn or similar problems. But well, if your doc examined you and doesn't think you have such problem then maybe you don't. :)
This is a topic that really makes me angry. My little boy had reflux that went undiagnosed from the time he was born until he was 2. His docs kept acting like I wasnt feeding him right and of course I just tried harder. Anyway, by the time we finally got him diagnosed, he had many troubles relating to eating and was always in pain from the reflux. Thankfully, he's on the road to recovery at last and his pain is well under control now but the docs are SOOOO ignorant of this disease and the pain it can cause.
So, find a doc who will listen to you! Or try one of the over the counter reflux (heartburn) meds like prilosec or zantac and see if you have any improvement. Dont let it go, it can be very debilitating when left untreated - it can erode your esophagus and thats a real problem. There are docs (although not many!) who know about reflux and who will listen to you!
It might also be costochondritis DD..inflamed ribs because of a long respiratory tract proble. You should take some strong pain killers for the pain..like Nurofen for a few days and see if it improves.
Mehnaz, I don’t eat them anymore - that was just a uni thing. I breakfast on crisps or toast depending on how much time i have. Lunch is a cheese pastie and toothkind ribena and supper is roti. Not too bad is it? I have chips once a week or every two weeks depending on the urge. From what i used to eat i eat soooooooooo much less..my weights dropped but the pains are persistent :o
Mamaof3, aww bless the child, hope alls well now. This is my second Dr is just as many years. I’m registered in a surgery with three Drs. I’ve tried two and no luck..i have one lucky un left..
Zakk, stick to journalism will you? Tryina diagnose me
