My dad used to have some pain in his chest so he was referred to a hospital, the hospital have done checks and believe one of his arteries are furring up…but not to an extent to have any major damage (Allah reham kare)..however as precaution they have asked him to take asprin tablet once a day which obviously works as a blood thinner…
Is this a good idea? Is this not dangerous that it may make the blood too thin?
He hasnt started taking it yet as he has asked me to do some research before I do..
hey, my dad was very healthy, but all of sudden had a heart attack, now he has about 12 pills a day including 2 aspirin, also people with diabetes and high blood pressure, and other heart problems are usually prescribed aspirin, i think definately your dad should take it because it can prevent a heart attack i wouldnt risk not taking it, serioulsy my dad gets chest pains if he doesnt take it.
hope this helps

I recently read an article that said aspirin can cause bleeding in the brain.

Aspirin is good for prevention of heart attack and stroke.
There have been many studies on it.
After age 40 its is really good for men and after menopause for females also. The dose is controversial issue for primary prevention (someone who does not have significant heart blockage or had heart attack). Smaller dose is better or full dose of 325 mg?
Anyhow, it is true that one has to take aspiring full dose if heart attack happens. Chewing and swallowing is better since it acts fast and can reduce the size of heart damage.
There are many studies showing benefit of aspirin daily AFTER a heart attack and for those who have been found to have heart artery blocked. (Secondary prevention)
In one study aspirin was found to be as beneficial as a clot buster drug (Streptokinase) in case of ongoing heart attack .
