Heart Attack Warning Signs

Chest discomfort. Most heart attacks involve discomfort in the center of the chest that lasts more than a few minutes, or that goes away and comes back. It can feel like uncomfortable pressure, squeezing, fullness or pain.

Discomfort in other areas of the upper body. Symptoms can include pain or discomfort in one or both arms, the back, neck, jaw or stomach.

Shortness of breath with or without chest discomfort.

Other signs may include breaking out in a cold sweat, nausea or lightheadedness.

If you are unsure of the symptoms, schedule a check up with your doctor, and if any of the above signs are bothersome, call 9-1-1 immediately or go to the ER. Minutes can make a big difference in the outcome and treatment.

PLEASE LIST ANY OTHER SIGNS you may know of…

Question- What if one experiences chest pains, moderate, and they last for more than a day? To be precise, when inhaling, you can't take the breath all the way into your lungs, it feels compressed/squeezed. This situation comes and goes without any warnings, but rare in nature. Does this really fall under the category of heart attack or just a mild/reduced symptom of it and there is no need to raise a red flag over this?

Re: Heart Attack Warning Signs

If you have family history of hypertension, high cholesterol, heart disease, stroke in your family, or if you have been diagnosed with hypertension, high cholesterol, it is better not to take chances and have a check up done as soon as possible. Sometimes it may just be a muscluar problem, indigestion or something else, but if it bothers and you can't really put a finger to it, call your doc. It's better to be safe.

Re: Heart Attack Warning Signs

i think it should also be told that the signs of heart attack are different for women than for men. the signs listed are typically for men who suffer from a heart attack.

That should be a concern incase one suffers from hypertension OR high cholestrol. There is no harm in getting an ECG done. It is better to be safe than sorry.

Re: Heart Attack Warning Signs

  • people with indigestion history should be careful not to confuse the heart attack symptoms of stomach discomfort, pain or pressure, nausea, breaking out in cold sweat with their indigestion problem.

That's right Khumar. Can you maybe list women's symptoms if possible?
