hatred, fascism or whatever, none in world needs to take lessons from chinese on that front. they still live in dispotic times though things have changed after failed cultural revolution which killed millions, but not much as falun gong treatment shows. it was nixon who brought them out of economic wastebasket that they were when US wanted to tackle Soviets. they are blessed with relative ethnic homogenety except tibet and muslim region. they will always be threat to india, though their priority remains taiwan. they have mellowed down on that after Bush's election who is expected to be less cosy with china than clinton. let us see.
The best thing about India and China coming closer together is that it's for an economic partnership - to reduce poverty in both nations, benefit from each-other's resources... not to buy arms. Guess this is a mystery for the Pak establishment, since their objective for a relationship with China has always been to get more arms. Same with US - Pak relations once upon a time, until the US no longer needed Pak. Contrast this with the proposed China - India relations now, or US - India relations. India even had and still has a huge barter trade with Russia (USSR), apart from the obvious military ties. Point is - will Pakistan ever look beyond arms shipments and bought-out nuclear plants and missiles when it talks about state - to - state relations ? Ummm.. I wouldn't bet on it, coz if their economy improves and people get educated, the generals and mullahs would be out of a job - won't run the govt. anymore.
