Re: Healthy recipes

Fish, place on square foil, add siced ginger, chilli flakes, lemon juice, soy sauce, and spring onions, drizzle a little olive oil, and bring up sides of foil to make a pouch. Cook in oven for about 10 mins.

Ingredients:

  • 1.5 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp chili powder (thats’s mild spicy)
  • 2 tsp ginger & garlic pastes or powders
  • 1 Tbsp barbeque sauce (any flavor goes..i like honey)
  • 1 Tbsp vinegar
  • 1 tsp mayonnaise, or you can substitute yogurt
  • 1 Tbsp of paprika (adds a sharp red color)

Directions:

  • Stab the fish lighlty with a fork.
  • Combine all the ingredients into a paste and coat the fish. Let it marinate overnight, covered, in the fridge (but if you don’t have time .. thats fine)
  • Cover the fish and bake at 325 for the first 15-20 minutes.
  • Remove cover when the water has left the fish.
  • Bake until the fish is cooked and red on top. Optional: Whisk an egg white and coat the fish when it is near done, to add a glossy look. (i never do that because by the time its near done, i’m too hungry to care about presentation  )

Re: Healthy recipes

Here's a super duper, does not get easier than this recipe for mild fish like salmon, tuna, tilapia:

If you can find it, Soy Ve (trader joe's has a similar version, whole foods has the real one), otherwise 2 parts soy sauce, 1 part teriyaki sauce.

Put fish in the baking dish, pour sauce over it. Let stand 20 mins. Preheat oven to 350 degrees at this time. Then pop in the oven at 350 degrees for... 20-25 mins, depending on thickness of fish, and it's done. No, this is not gourmet. But the fish does taste good, no added oil, fat, anything.

Re: Healthy recipes

Wow great fish recipes here! Something to keep in mind tho...its generally recommended not to eat fish more than once a week. Apparently, the mercury levels in fish has risen over the past years so fish isnt as healthy as it once was.

:hehe: i was thinking the same thing..this thread justbecame the fish recipes central. you’re right about the mercury levels though. healthy as it may be, it’s not a good thing to have daily. some folks take fish oil supplements/cod liver oil supplements and stay away from fish altogether, but that’s not right either!!
