Healthy Food Substitutions

Sometimes just by substituting a healthy ingredient for an unhealthy one, can make a world of a difference in calories and overall health.

List some of your tricks to make foods healthier.

mine

-apple sauce instead of oil when making brownies
-recently discovered “veggie” pasta → great substitute for carb-overloaded white pasta and more tastier than stiff whole wheat pasta

instead of fried french fries, use baked ones, and
instead of potatoes, use yams [sweet potatoes]

A&W has recently introduced baked yam fries in their selected outlets.

I would rather eat a smaller portion of non healthy food than to go for yucky card board tasting healthy alternative.

Ditch corn, canola, soybean oil.
Replace with olive, coconut oil or ghee.

coconut oil is like pure saturated fat. dont listen to the hippies.

canola is quite healthy, lots of MUFAs. ghee totally depends on the cows. if they were raised on grass, nice. seeds, no.
