a friend used to have kellogs special K cereal and swore by it, other options include eggs with whole wheat bread, fruits, juices, smoothies, yoghurt with nuts/muesli, cheese toast.

Re: Healthy breakfast ideas

nuts? Can i eat nuts in 1st trimester  wow

Re: Healthy breakfast ideas

If you don’t have an allergy and if your OB hasn’t specified you not to have them and you are eating in moderation they are a great source of protein.

Re: Healthy breakfast ideas

Saniya, I read your biryani comment as well in the parenting forum - Please stop stressing about what you should/shouldn’t eat just because you’re pregnant. Eat whatever you were eating beforehand and eat what you crave. If you’ve specific concerns or if your doctor told you to avoid something - do so. Otherwise, yes you may eat biryani and yes you can have your nuts as well. You’re pregnant - Don’t treat it like a disease or something, because it isn’t.

Congrats :flower1:

Re: Healthy breakfast ideas

She’s right about nuts though. Sorry I don’t mean to add to the neurosis lol, but if you or an immediate family member has a nut allergy, best to avoid them. I posted a thread about this earlier and looks like there are some differences in the guidelines between UK/US healthcare… but my midwife advised me to avoid them because of my brother’s nut allergy so I am not eating them as much.

Other than that I agree with Arzi - chill and out and try to eat a balanced diet. More fruit, more milk, more good stuff. Use common sense.

Pretty much any or everything that seems palatable except for papaya.

Re: Healthy breakfast ideas

Totally agree with Arzi…the only foods you should avoid in pregnancy are raw/undercooked meats, certain fish that have high mercury content and papaya. Other than that, anything and everything in moderation is fine.

Please stop obsessing over the old wives tales about do’s and don’t. You’re pregnant, not a special case invalid with a terminal illness god forbid.

Re: Healthy breakfast ideas

thanks alot folks . It was a big issue for me, i had faced a miscarriage before thats why im confused, plus i didnt see any dr yet . Because of my stairs .. I will take appointment soon.

Re: Healthy breakfast ideas

If you have had a m/c before you really should be under the supervision of a qualified OB/gyn, if the stairs part scares you atleast have a talk with your doctor on the phone.

Re: Healthy breakfast ideas

Im sorry about your mc…I had 4 miscarriages before giving birth to my eldest, so I understand the paranoia. A MC in the first trimester will not happen because of something you eat, it will be because the fetus is not viable due to chromosomal anomalies or the condition of your uterus, so please don’t worry about eating biryani or nuts. Carry on with your normal diet as you did before. Nothing needs to change unless certain foods are making you nauseus or causing heartburn or constipation, all which are totally normal in the first trimester.

And please keep up with regularly scheduled appointments with your obstetrician.

Re: Healthy breakfast ideas

okay i must see a dr.. Im stucked , i was in hyderabad before and now im in karachi , i have to see any qualified gynae yet nearest by my resedence .. Taking an appointment of gynae is also important and i dont wana take any risk like my strais . Im fully confused , what should i do :frowning:

Healthy breakfast ideas

What are you confused and scared about? Why are the stairs such a big deal? There is no reason why you can’t use stairs unless you have been specifically told to be on complete bed rest by your doctor (which wouldn’t happen this early in your pregnancy anyway).

Re: Healthy breakfast ideas

khatichic , thanks for your kind words , and sad to read about your 4 mcg . I am having a small fibroid 4.4 mm in uterine wall . But dr had advised me n0t to worry about that , else everything is fine . I had my us done in january after and before miscarriage everythng was normal ..
