Health Insurance Issues

OK so we have this “awesome” health insurance through hubby’s company but every few months a get some weird bill that I have to call about and fight to get covered. In the end it usually gets taken care of, but why can’t it be a smooth transaction in the first place. I mean how hard is it?

Re: Health Insurance Issues

we have the same issue..

everytime we use the card (or my hubby does) it gets rejected because they reckon we havent paid the monthly installment... for goodness sakes, it goes through hubby's pay before he even sees the money so i dont get it..

otherwise its good.

Re: Health Insurance Issues

nk, never had a problem with mine but then again ive never really used it for anything other than the routine stuff like eye exams, annuals, dental cleanings etc... surprisingly, i never had to pay any copays

Re: Health Insurance Issues

It happened to me many a times with one particular insurance company only. Never with others afterward.

Re: Health Insurance Issues

Any time my son is seen by a different doctor (in case his regular pediatrician is out) at the SAME practice we get billed a higher amount than the usual co-pay. Insurance company for some reason thinks he was seen by a specialist.

To resolve the issue I end up calling the insurance, they then call the doctor's office, a few more calls back and forth and finally things get fixed. I have gotten so irritated by the whole CALL game that when it happened for the 5th time recently, I almost wanted to pay the amount we got billed for just to avoid making the calls.

Re: Health Insurance Issues

insurance billing simply sucks, lets not be shy and name some companies. in my experience blue cross/blue shield is the best, united healthcare is pretty pathetic. aetna is okay.

we had a situation where we called them about some treatment coverage for my son they said its covered, then rejected it, referred us to the policy document, and our argument was that listen, we spoke to your person, we actually have date and name here, we were told yes, and then we went for it. appeaed it, got rejected, re appealing it but have also struck out a deal with the provider where we can pay them less out of pocket and just be done with it.

what I cant stand is those bills, amount covered, amount you may owe..it takes them forever to sort it out.

its the entire medical industry, we went to a hospital, they look at insurance info, copy teh card, why on earth is their billign department billing to an insurance company that i had back in 99? then i get a letter saying my insurance has rejected it, i call my insurance, they have no clue, then i call these hospital bozos back figure out what the deal is and sort it out. killing my free time making up for the mistake that the dam hospital made.

Re: Health Insurance Issues

X2, that is exactly my issue. Today i get a bill from last years kids well visits, so one from May 2007 and one from Nov 2007. Sheesh! Now I have to make calls to the hospital billing dept. who will surely say call the insurance company who will say we paid so call you hospital again who will once again redirect me to the insurance and in the meantime I will get another reminder :smack:

What is with these people?

I think they are counting on some stupid people who will give up and just pay to get over the headache. This is how they make some extra $$.

Re: Health Insurance Issues

A couple of years ago, I had xrays and cleaning done at this new dentist's office.
Next thing I know, they send me a bill saying my insurance company rejected it and I had called the day before to make sure they covered this certain dentist. Anyway, I told them I was not going to pay for this because I went there AFTER being told it was covered by some stupid agent.
The dentist's office kept sending the bill and I kept forwarding them to the insurance company.. this went on for about 6 months until I finally stopped getting any. So out of curiosity I called them up and found out insurance had finally paid it :D

Re: Health Insurance Issues

Jeez, Shay. These guys are so disorganized, perhaps on purpose :hmmm:

That reminds me of my ATT phone service. I get a bill for atleast and I mean atleast 200 dollars EACH month.. and realistically I am only suppose to get billed 60 something.

Yeah, just tell them you’re gonna sue their company if they mess up again :hehe:
