Health and Fitness Myths

Re: Health and Fitness Myths

^ Never heard of that unless you drink bad water.

Yeah it can make your poo runny if you have more fluids but thats not an infection, better than constipation!

Re: Health and Fitness Myths

Water is eaisly contaminated so the good water can turn into bad eaisly. And the more you drink it, the higher the chances of you getting an infection because of the bacteria.

Re: Health and Fitness Myths

so do you keep drinking water in tiny tiny sealed containers or together in one pot? this makes no sense pal. -___-

Re: Health and Fitness Myths

Of course bad water will make you ill, but not TOOO much water.

Alot of water will give you runny poo but not an infection as long as its clean.

Re: Health and Fitness Myths

Well not tiny sealed containers really but thats why it is always better to drink your water in a glass instead of using the bottle itself because you will hopefuly be washing the glass when you want to reuse it. But if you are drinking from a bottle you will have to use it ateast twice hence exposing it more to bacteria/germs.

Ok even if you just get the runny poo and no infection, it still is not normal so you can’t really call this a myth. I am sure nobody enjoys runny poos…:bummer:.

Re: Health and Fitness Myths

For that to happen though I imagine you have to consume ALOT of water like ALOTTTTTTTTT which is difficult to achieve tbh.

Re: Health and Fitness Myths

i believe the word for drinking that much water is "enema" :p

Re: Health and Fitness Myths

i wish i hadn’t read this thread while eating dinner :smack:

Re: Health and Fitness Myths

The main takeaway for those just about to start dinner - too much water = runny poo

Source - the good doctor Inspiron

Re: Health and Fitness Myths

Zareen like others said its really hard to drink too much water. Our bodies are really good at keeping all systems at homeostasis. A healthy kidney excretes 1 litre of water/hour. So you really have to drink alot of water. Or if you are an athletes you can over hydrate your body if you drink a lot of water quickly after working out or performing without replenishing the electrolytes lost.

Inspiron - I didn't know too much water if it does happen causes diarrhea? I thought water intoxication lead to high intracranial pressure which leads to things like irritability, headache and nausea etc.

Drinking plenty of water recommendation for kidney stone patients is not a myth. There is a reason behind this. The most common type of kidney stone is a calcium oxalate stone. If one doesn't drink enough water there is a higher concentration of oxalate (which comes from food products). Iinstead of oxalate staying in the digestive tracts it gets absorbed into the blood stream and end up in the kidneys where it binds with calcium. That's what I remember from school. I think there was more to it but water was definitely a factor.

Re: Health and Fitness Myths

YOu are right about that the kidney stone part. That is what my doc told me as well. However, he also said that while drinking substantial water prevents formation of kidney stones, some people are prone and can still have them....perhaps the size and frequency can be reduced.

Re: Health and Fitness Myths

Yes, you are right drinking water is no guarantee that one won't develop kidney stones. I suppose it is a good precautionary measure to take. There is always more then one thing at play when it comes to the human body.

Re: Health and Fitness Myths

:D you are so supportive!

actually you are right.

but you know what? tell you friend: she can eat whatever she wants before 12.00 (in the morning): cakes etc...
the closer it is to the night the less she should eat. e.g. last meal at 6p.m. - light salad. Time is important - no matter when you wake up.
tell her if she wants something yummy she'll have to wake up before 12 to eat it :D
and 10 min. of exercises every day - a good start

Re: Health and Fitness Myths

A friend once told me you shouldn't eat a single banana because it upsets your stomach, you should always eat it in pairs. :S

Re: Health and Fitness Myths

I've heard that in Pak too, in Aus we have larger bananas, and sometimes you have to share 1, as it can be too much for one person. But in Pak they have little ones, that you'll have finished a bunch and you wouldn't even notice.

Re: Health and Fitness Myths

I would say, if you want to loose extra weight and be in good health, find out your blood type, and then google eat4bloodtype. I changed my life with what they say about what is good/bad for me. I had to quit on chicken completely. But.. Remember:...

**Jennifer Aniston: Ate the same salad for more then one year when she was on "Friends"
Brit Spears: does 500 sit ups everyday

Goodluck
