Headaches

Other than taking a Tylenol, what is a good way to get rid of a headache? I have a bad one, and because I don’t have any pain meds with me at work…I’m suffering!!:frowning:

Re: Headaches

My friend doesn't believe in Advil, Tylenol, etc. She does accutherapy/accupressure on herself. She has done a course on it, and said that you have to know the proper technique to get relief. If you are looking for holistic solutions, then maybe look into this.

As for right now, sorry, no suggestions :(
Maybe drink some green tea?

Re: Headaches

I don't use any meds either for headaches, not even Tylenol. I find my headaches come from tight muscles in my neck and upper back. I take a hot shower, massage, and hot water bottle, stretches and drink tea. Caffeine is supposed to help.

Re: Headaches

Water...drink lots of it

and sit some where you can get some fresh air...although not cold

if you are near a freezer or ice put some ice(or frozen peas etc) in a bag and hold it against you temples
or try splashing your forhead and temples with cold water
pressure points for headaches are the webbed bit between your forefinger and thumb...press on them

rub your temples
if you have essential oil a couple of drops of lavender with a couple of mint mixed with a tiny bit of olive or almond and rubbed onto your temples helps

and if you are a tea or coffee drinker...you may be craving one

massage may help..neck/ head
hope you get better soon

Re: Headaches

Right, water works wonders. One of the causes of headaches is dehydration.

Re: Headaches

Yea like others have said, can be from dehydration. I suffer from migraines and find that massaging helps a lot, not just of the head but on my neck and shoulders too. Someone once told me that bad posture cud also be to blame for a headache. Also, for some ppl certain foods/drinks can be triggers, for ex) cheese, chocolate and caffeine. Or maybe a certain strong smell may be bothering u (perfume, smoke etc.) Fresh air and hot showers will definately help too :)

Re: Headaches

Thanks for the tips. My headaches are related to my problems with my ears and/or jaw. The docs can't figure it out yet. Inshallah I will look at the suggestions and see what I can do :)

Re: Headaches

^ Avoid chewing gum.
Massage your temples and forehead gently...it can increase the blood flow to these areas and can bring some relief to the pain.
Don't take stress....it makes the situation worst...take 10 deep breathes...and/or a breif walk to calm you down and clear your mind...think about something nice...which makes u feel good n happy.
Exercise!....it doesnt only help relieving tension, stress and increase the blood circulation but also release some chemicals which work like natrual pain killers.
Take a nap.
Tea always works for me.
Listening to calm soothing music can help too.

Re: Headaches

I never take medicine for headache. Just get some sleep. Sometimes you get headache cz of skipping breakfast/meals.
