i think there is a controversy about it and historians and muhaddisin have different opinion about it. having said that in my humble opinion he adhered to the advice of his father to great extent. thats y majority of ummate muslima had reposed confidence in him.

Yes Yazid did practised on the advise of this Father, but not 100%, he made a basic mistake, he let the people with evil intentions to be his advisors, e.g. Marwan bin Hakm had other intentions in his mind…
