please gentlemen, refrain for the traditional muslim style of debate labelling the other party Kafir.
i assume that none of us will remain muslim if we take this approach, my desire is to find the truth and i wanted to initiate a healthy debate not this stereotype one. anyone who knows something about the mother's milk density study may please guide me ahead.However i seriously believe that Hazrat ALi cannot say something which is factually wrong and therefore these things are wrongly attributed to him .

except shark ( Tsc/Tsc I don't know nothing about 'em) all of above creatures lay eggs (Snake/Roaches) and they have internal ears as well *Actually, the snakes are probably quite deaf to the sound of the pipe and its use is really in the nature of deception *so one thing is clear Snake & Roaches fall under egg laying category of Hazrat Ali's saying.
However Shark Yes, some do (oviparous), some don't and instead give live birth (viviparous), and some do a cross between both that is, they create eggs that hatch within the body, and then give live birth.

please see the following link to see that because of these false attributions how you can be embarrased. (In search of proof of this attribution, i googled and that is what i got)
but it still does not solve the problem even if one species is left, i suggest that we should tell others not to believe on these false claims wrongly attributed to him.

Why assume that fish (animals of water) and birds (animals of air) should be included in above categories?
When the question and answer is referring to ‘animals’, keep it to animals humans normally call and understand and they are land animals or animals excluding fish and birds.
Almost in all languages (that I believe includes Arabic), animals have two meaning. One is animal that includes land, sea, and air animal species (sometime that excludes humans, thus ‘Humans and Animals’ in English and ‘Insan aur Janwar’ in urdu). Another meaning of word Animals in almost all languages exclusively means land animals, where sea animals have its own word (fish in English) and air animals own words (bird in English)
Thus, look for animals that are land animals (not fish and birds) and see if the above statement applies or not. Else, all criticising are based on assumption that word Animals used is for all living things on earth and that assumptions not necessary has to be true.

Your logic is interesting and seems valid as well, however going by your explanation of animals, where does the viviparious snakes fit in?
and usually Wikipedia is not an authoritative source so have a look here as well
although technically it is a debate whether the vivipary in snakes is real vivipary or another form of ovovivipary, however we must keep in mind that this attribution does not discuss placenta or something, it is giving birth to live young or eggs and in that case both vivipary & ovovivipary are same category.
Still i appreciate your point, this is really another way at looking to the problem which never came to my mind

Can someone with a good arabic knowledge look at the exact text of the statement and put us wise about the meaning from the (animals, birds & fish) view point as well as something else which may have been missed by translators due to lack of scientific knowledge.

Now how can Imam Ali who was an infalliable slip up? As stated by Prophet Muhammad himself: "I am the knowledge and Ali is the gate"? u need to get through the gate first if you wanna reach the knowledge. He was the only person ever to be born in the Holy Kaaba, why would he slip up, please think about it.
