Re: Hazrat Ali-The Door of Knowledge (merged)
Actually i am looking to the source of this Saying, i read this saying and was highly impressed with the way he succintly summarized the answer, but on investigation i found the flaw in the second part of the saying attributed to him, i wish i could prove that the second part was not uttered by him and someone else atributed his own thoughts to him.
also what you have quoted is another saying which goes like this that there was a dispute between two ladies who had given birth to children same night in one place and were fighting for the custody of the baby boy. The case came to Hazrat Umar and he called Hazrat Ali because he could not solve the issue and Hazrat ALi judged that equal quantity of both mothers milk be weighed and the one with the heavier milk is the mother of the boy, on which Hazrat Umar said what you had quoted above. Frankly i am looking to verify that as well but so far i am unable to find any study regarding relation of mother's milk density to gender of the new born.
my aim is to prove that he was the door of knowledge and this second part i believe was attributed to him by someone else down the chain of narrators
Dear brother and sister Salam,
All the above quotes are available in : sermons of Amirul Momineen Ali ibn abi Talib in a book titled Nahjul Balagha (Peak of Eloquenc)
