I don’t see the thrill in being Punjabi or Sindhi or Pashtun, national identities are always going to come up top anyway and nobody gives a toss about ethnic identities, we’re just Pakis to everyone else.
Even in Afghanistan the so called homeland of the Pashtuns, Persian is considered superior to Pashto and is the lingua franca, even the Pashtuns speak Persian now or are bilingual, the Taliban tried imposing Pashto across the country but failed miserably. In East Punjab, Punjabi is losing ground to Hindi even though it’s associated with the local Sikh religion, their Budday are always complaining about it. Same is the case with Punjabi in Pakistan, but of course Paki Punjabis are more willing to adopt their national language because they’ve more sense.
