Hayden upset Shoaib and Asif can go to World Cup

“It’s a laughable point amongst our players because we’ve worked very hard to be clean athletes,”

Very convenient for Hayden to forget that one of them done it couple of years ago…maybe Aussies need to do their own dope test to find out how many of them are on drugs

Re: Hayden upset Shoaib and Asif can go to World Cup

Now Mr. Border has his expert opinion..

Better off without them: Border

By Peter Kogoy

March 02, 2007 THE World Cup is “probably better off” without controversial Pakistan bowlers Shoaib Akhtar and Mohammad Asif, according to former Australia captain Allan Border.
Pakistan’s doping-tainted pacemen were yesterday ruled out of the World Cup in the Caribbean due to injury, but suspicion remains they were withdrawn to avoid further drug testing at the tournament beginning on Tuesday week.
Pakistan coach Bob Woolmer said the news was a “huge blow” while captain Inzamam-ul-Haq conceded that his team would be under “tremendous pressure” at the World Cup.
In November, Shoaib was banned for two years and Asif for one after testing positive to the banned steroid nandrolone, but the penalties were overturned on the grounds that they took the substance unknowingly.
“Akhtar and Asif are both out due to injury and we have decided to replace them with Yasir Arafat and Mohammad Sami,” chief selector Wasim Bari said.
“Their injuries will take another two weeks to heal so, after consultation with Inzamam-ul-Haq, we have taken the final decision. The Pakistan team is capable enough to deal with this critical situation.”
Border said, with mandatory testing in place for the World Cup, it was an advantage to the tournament that they were left out, with the World Cup due to start in Jamaica in little more than a week.
“Players who have been selected from other teams for what is cricket’s biggest tournament are there performing to the best of their ability and on a level playing field,” Border said in Brisbane yesterday.
"If it were to be true that it wasn’t an injury, and it turned out be something else, then it would be better for all concerned that they didn’t make the trip.
"If it was revealed at some later stage they had taken an illegal substance, then the sport doesn’t need another black eye.
“I would feel genuinely sorry for both the two young blokes if that were not the case.”
Border, who captained Australia to a World Cup win in 1987, was yesterday prepared to give Shoaib and Asif the benefit of the doubt despite the lingering suspicions.
“There has been a cloud hanging over both of them for a good while,” he said.
"It is to be hoped that they are truly injured and that it’s not a repeat of their previous (drug) problem.
"But if it is the case, it would be sad on the one hand because I believe they are both quality cricketers.
"The whole cricketing world knows there has been a big question mark over them both.
"It is a known fact they both had failed previous internal testing, but as we also know the Pakistan Cricket Board is not WADA-compliant.
“The bottom line here is there is no room for players who take (illegal) drugs in our game.”

^ It is against my principles to swear at ppl but right now I am really on the edge of breaking this rule
…SMH also posted something like but more blunt…
Aussies are a bunch of ass*** in racism. They are the worst lot as far as I am concerned.
