Hayden, to me, seems like a very under-rated player. Although statistically he is perhaps more successful than Tendulkar and Lara. I guess this outstanding innings and the incredible world record will push him firmly into the spot light.
His interview afterwards was pretty down to earth. One thing which I didn’t quite understand is that he said the Bombings in Bali was one factor behind his heroic innings… and am scratching my head and wondering, how come? Why punish the poor Zimbabwians for the deeds of some Indonesian terrorists.
Anyway, well done Mr Hayden. You have arrived at the records scene with a firm bang! :k:
^^ They had a 80 seconds silence before the start of the match for the bombing in Bali. I guess Hayden just got his inspiration from those 80 silent seconds.
“I would not trade Matthew Hayden for anybody else in world cricket. If anyone is going to break Brian Lara’s world record Test score of 375, he is the man.” Australia’s own Nostradamus, Steve Waugh, speaking in November 2002

That is bull, Hayden is trying to improve his image among the people, if he was that sympathetic, he should have scored just 80 runs.
