Hawa / Waa is used in almost all Indian languages. Interesting to note that Persian 'Baad' and Arabic 'Reeh' are not that popular. same is the case with words for water. Its pani in almost all Indian languages. Arabic 'Maa'o' and Persian 'Aab' are not in common use.

Reeh is famous. :p

How? any serious instances?

There is this term ' waa'i baadi ' used in Sindhi for diarrhea :p

In old Sindhi poetry from 17th/18th century, waai was a type of poetry like 'kaafi'. some 'waai' written by Shah Lateef were part of our syllabus and we always referred to wai baadi while reading those wais in our books. :)

No languages are beautiful.

Mai soch rahi thee...language ka maqsad communication tha... language insan ne he banaye... tou phir jub koe usme changes lata hai...jaise k keh lain..internet language...ya kisi aur language k words ka addition...tou usay bura kyon samjha jata hai ? Maqsad tou same hota hai ..communication...aur change bhi insan he lata hai...
Aisa kya hai language k beg form mai...jo insan ko wo zyadah khoobsoorat lagti hai ?kya logon ko lagta tha k language bhi time k sath evolve nai hogi ?

sar sar is the type of air which destroyed quom e Aad (refer Surah e Alhaaqa)

But the purpose was …ease of communucation…why so much importance on not letting it evolve ? Language ne apni shuruwat mai bhi dosri languages k words liye he thay na…everything evolves…ppl rarely cook in mud pots now…ppl dont use pigeons for sending messages n so on.

Languages are connected with cultures and history and hence the affinity of people with them.

I remember Baad e Saba, Bad e Samoom… There is also Zehr bad (don’t know what kind of Hawa it is).

wa'o is also used in Sindhi for air. koso wao is garam hawa... ladies give blessing to their children as 'shala koso wao na lagai'... May you don't have to face hot air (difficulties).

Shaala tainun kadi tatti [with soft t] vaa na lagay - in Punjabi.

I have heard some songs with 'tatti hawa' ka zikar in them.

tatti is also common in Sindh. It is used for garam as well dopehar (shikre dopehre)

Every change in language is not evolution. sometimes languages dies when they are allowed to accept every change.
