They think they are more intelligent and don't want to admit that they are wrong, even if the are talking full rubbish.

It indicates immaturity.
I used to be like that, until I realize that less talking can actually have a greater effect on the other person rather than not giving them the last word.

It used to be important to be in my late teens/early adult. It would bother me if I didnt have the last word but now I hardly say anything, good or bad unless I absolutely have to..
