Have you read any good Islamic books lately?

Salaam,

Since I have some time till my summer school starts, I thought I’d try to learn more about Islam. So I’d like to know if any of you have read some good Islamic books lately…preferably from sunni authors.

I know this last line is going to stir up some controversy..but I think it’s necesary to get the books that are more adequate for me.

Jazakallah!

Hey one more thing
These things are hard to explain
For some it seems strange... to swallow
The frontier of our minds
Is the last place we find
But maybe the first place we should go

hinna,

in urdu or english???

The History of Islamic Political Thought - by Antony Black

The book is very well written with some comparisons of todays world. There is one catch though...being a European writer he is somewhat biased about the era when christians were getting back in power.

Learn to love yourself, then learn to love one-another

This is not my Paradise

Hinna YOU HAVE to get this:)

The first time I read it when I was 15, staying with my grandparents for the summer. A few months ago I found a copy of it and read it again, I kept thinking maybe it wouldn’t be the same as I remembered, and it wasn’t, it was better, because after reading it again after so many years there were so many other things I saw, and that I was able to understand, or see differently:)

I know, I know i’m babbling.

But I know you’ll love it:)

A book that is good for anyone is The Muslim Marriage Guide by Ruqaiyyah Waris Maqsood. Even if you're not getting married, having the knowledge of what makes or breaks a marriage is beneficial.
