Usually people buy before 2-3 days of eid so they can manage keeping it, we do the same. So no buying before that

We usually go to a farm in a rural area about 25 miles away from our house to do qurbani, but the past couple of years have so busy that we have just sent money to Pakistan to have relatives donut for us as well.

We used to do that too when I was a kid. Was a lot of fun.
