Have you ever?

Have you ever seen a mayyat ? Or give shower to a dead body? How was your experience?

Re: Have you ever?

I have seen many, and laid few to grave too (my close relatives).

Experience of stepping into grave and putting dead-bodies to rest was hair raising. At that very moment, my feelings were like this is the reality of life. U take nothing from the world.

and secondary feeling was that I have nothing (good deeds) to take with me to life after.......

Re: Have you ever?

mayyat? yes couple. given shower 2 a dead body? nope! i was asked to join in when my nano died but later they stopped me cuz i was kinda young and m the sensitive type so yah.

saw the 1st mayyat when i must have been around 8 yrs? it was my dado. it was just horrible cuz u can say it was my first such experience and i didnt know what was happening i was just so confused and it was like i had come 2 a still. i still remember i was havin my dinner when an uncle called and informed my mom that dado has passed. i dropped my dinner plate and literally went into a shock! :( ....it was the very first time in my life i saw my dad crying, he completely broke down and that was just too much for me to bear.

Re: Have you ever?

Having lived thousands of miles away from all the relatives almost all my life, I have never attended a relative's funeral. I can't say it's a good thing though... I wish I could've seen nana abu and my mamu. It would've been heart-wrenching but at least I would've had the chance to see them for the last time.

Re: Have you ever?

Yes, attended to the ghusl/mayat for my Ammi, 4 years ago. Like Decent said above, it is hair raising, to say the least.

My husband was the one to lower her into the grave, as I have no brothers. He said there were no words to explain what he felt.

Re: Have you ever?

i saw hundreds of maiyats and the maximum number of dead bodies i've ever seen is 22. they all died as a result of a train-bus collision. they were part of a wedding party and the driver of the bus they were riding in ignored the warning signs at an unmanned railway crossing. when i heard about the accident, i ran to the site of accident and then followed the procession to the local morgue. it was a very sad and horrifying experience as i was just 12 years old at the time.

i gave Ghusl to a baby...just hours old...it was the saddest moment of my life. i was like 25 years old. the baby was my cousin's new born. i remember holding the baby in my hand and pouring water over. he was such a cute baby...very cute...mujhe yeh she'r yaad aa gayaa thaa bachche ko nahlaate huye.

aise jeevan bhii haiN jo jiye hii nahiiN
jinke jeene se pahle hii maut aa gayii
phool aise bhii haiN jo khile hii nahiiN
jinke khilne se pahle KhizaaN aa gayii
hai parishaaN nazar, thak gaye chaaragar
koii samjhaa nahiiN koii jaanaa nahiiN

zindagii kaa safar hai yeh kaisaa safar
koii samjhaa nahiiN, koii jaanaa nahiiN
yeh yeh kaisii Dagar, chalte haiN sab magar
koii samjhaa nahiiN, koii jaanaa nahiiN :(

i also placed the baby's lil coffin in the grave by hand. his casket was made of just plywood which has a wood string bedding and covered with a blue satin material...:( so sad! :(
