I have not read it but I will take this as an opportunity to ask my Hindu fellows here a question. I have heard that there is a religious mantra that is read to the one who is dying for him or her to die peacfully. Can someone please share a correct translation of that mantra here for my own knowledge?
I hope you are talking about Mritunjay MahaManta, that manta is evoked to gain Lord Shiva's blessing so that individual is relived from cycle of lives and gets moksha, moksha means independence from cycle of lives, as hindus believe in reincarnation:)
OM triyambakam yajāmahe sugandhim pushTivardhanam,
urvārukamiva bandhanān mrrityormokshiya māmrritāt.
We worship Shiva - The Three-Eyed (tryambakam) Lord (yajamahe);
Who is fragrant (sugandhim) and nourishes (pushti) and grows (vardhanam) all beings.
As the ripened cucumber (urvarukamiva) is automatically liberated (bandhanaan) (by the intervention of the "farmer") from its bondage to the creeper when it fully ripens;
May He liberate us (mokshiya) from death (mrityor), for the sake of immortality (maamritaat).
