have you ever cried over it?

as an immigrant, have you ever gotten into a bad discussion with a die-hard anti-muslim/islam? where you’ve tried to be decent, understanding and have truly wanted to help the situaiotn .. but gotten nothing but abuse back?

has the issue ever made you cry?

even you personally havent gotten into such a dialog … but just living this life where the person standing next to you probably hates you to pieces because you’re a muslim …

has it had a personal effect on you ever that it completely brought you down?

Re: have you ever cried over it?

Sukar it never happened to me . May be a benefit of living in an educated environment .

I've had it happen to me as an American in Pakistan, because I am not Muslim. I've traveled many places, and watched people treat other people that way just because they are different. I've listened to Muslims rant about Jews and "Crusaders" and Hindus. I've listened to Sikhs and Hindus and Chinese and Americans and everybody else badmouth Muslims. I've listened to men put down women and women put down men.

Everybody finds a group or groups to target, blame, etc. Everybody seems to need an Other to hate.

Yes on numerous occasions but I didn't cry there and then... I cried in the bathroom, or when I got home.

It hurts the most when it comes from people who are meant to be your friends or from fellow Desis.

Anti-Islamic/Muslim comments are a regular occurence now but occasionally they get really venemous and that's when they suck all the energy, happiness and joy out of you....

...They have a dementor effect on me.

Sometimes you just think I've got enough on my plate to deal with without all this, I wish I could just do my job and go home.

Not everyone is racist/islamaphobic, there's some really nice people who stand by you and defend you but they're shrinking in number.

True that... If only people looked past all the superficial differences they'd see we are all the same deep down...

Her Majesty Queen Rania of Jordan once said:

"No matter where we come from… what we look like… how we dress… or to whom we pray… when it comes to what makes us laugh or cry… when it comes to what we dream of for ourselves and for our children… when it comes to how hard we work each day… we are usually more alike than we are different. "

yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhh ... very precise! i just dont get it how people have the nerve to call you extremist when u havent done ANYTHING to them, or hardly e ven know them ... you're being courteous and kind ... and even then ... they just abuse u left right and centre ... and just basicallly use really bad words.

whats this whole drama about "islamic" extremists? they can be anyone and from anywhere.
was reading this bit somewhere about how a group of jews were trying to burn a mosque down in palestine or something ... and were painting "we will burn you" every where ... when that is precisely what the nazis did to them in the last century. does one really forget their own hardship so easily, and have no guilt or second thought before inflicting the same pain tht uv suffered onto someone else???
what a horribly bad world.

Re: have you ever cried over it?

Yes !!!

I once worked In Barclays Bank in london City.
I was number 3 out of 570 Relationship managers IN UK and number one in London
for whole 1 year.
My managers loved me !!
they normally promote top performers every year but I was in the same position for 18 months and the guy who was promoted was not even in a league but the reason was he was friends with Area manager use to go to pub every Friday !!!!
My Jewish Area performance manager came to me and told me that guy will be promoted instead of me.
I left that organisation left the country although my entire family asked me not to go to Pakistan !!!
I am living alone in Pakistan without my immediate family but I am still very satisfied I pray to Allah not to put me in circumstances where I have to go back..
alhamdulilah pak is a very good country its a third world country and have many opportunities I am living here for last 1 year and Alhamdulilah very very happy!!!!
too many problems but to many blessings !!!!

Re: have you ever cried over it?

^ whaaaaaaaaaa .. it had that big an impact ... you have no relatives in pak?

Re: have you ever cried over it?

^ I can realte to it from personal experience… However life is full of tears wherever you go. Hatred is everywhere it is like death which is a proof of life.

One can only take so much and sometimes one sheds a tear… even men can cry.
However the fact is he that falls isn’t a failure he that fails to get up afterwards is.

Clad i am delighted by the fact that you made such a decision and it has worked out well for you.. hats off to your decision. :aliyish:

I only pray whatever happens Allah give us the strength to see life through to it’s end.
Storms are a blessing just as much as fair winds…
The same materials make a God from man and a man to a Satan.

Allah be with those who need help.
