Have you ever changed your appearance for others?
If and when you have, who benefits?
Re: Have you ever changed your appearance for others?
Yes, all the time. Everyone benefits. I mean there is a reason I don't wear the big collared 70s shirts.
Re: Have you ever changed your appearance for others?
putting stupid clothes to go to work, because people think that inteligence comes from the clothes worn ![]()
and of course out of work put as much “provocative” dress as possible to upset the believer of suit and tie , lol…especially as teenager:halo:
Re: Have you ever changed your appearance for others?
Yes, I wore things my mother sewed for me as a child. Embarrassing sometimes but it made her happy. Then after marriage I wore whatever my mil wanted me to wear. Even to this day, after 6 years of marriage, she buys clothes, shoes, jewelry for me and our kids.
Initially I felt she was trying to mold me. Her sons joked that she was turning me into a mini version of herself because all the clothes were just like her style. They were a more mature style for me. I personally would have like a more casual and hip style but whatever, she was happy. So I think everyone benefited. I was just grateful and thanked Allah for everything. No complaints.
Re: Have you ever changed your appearance for others?
This reminds me my poor friend had to wear a shocking pink, orange and green mixture suit on her nikah. She felt horrible and cried when she was saying yes to her Nikah. for a moment molvi sahib felt it was because of force nikah.. but NOPE it was beacuse of her dress… but after sa ying yes she actually cried like a little baby..
When i was a little kid my dadi ami ji made me this kinaari wala suit. I would wear it in a heart beat if she was to pick anything out for me :~)
I chopped my 3 ft long hair… i kept them because people thought they looked good i decided to go against it ![]()
Re: Have you ever changed your appearance for others?
nope never, even though I remember being yelled by my mom that I am the most dheet daughter one can have since I wore only what I felt comfortable with.
Re: Have you ever changed your appearance for others?
you mean as far as looks?
Re: Have you ever changed your appearance for others?
This guy who I caught red handed thought I was too skinny and wanted me to eat more. I tried to eat more and gained some weight. It did make me look a bit bulkier. I could never go back to sweet 45 kgs again.
Re: Have you ever changed your appearance for others?
i have.
who benefits? i did, or i do cuz it makes me happy when just the way i look can bring a smile on someone's face :)
Re: Have you ever changed your appearance for others?

Re: Have you ever changed your appearance for others?

Re: Have you ever changed your appearance for others?
Yeah I liked this guy, and I thought okay in order to get him I need to lose 20 lbs ... I did eventually lose the weight but I never got him. lol But it was a worthwhile effort anyway.

You sound so laid back, your mil is definitely lucky to have a bahu like you! I was raised to be that way but my own preferences got in the way mostly because my mil would like me to wear abayas and stuff.
Re: Have you ever changed your appearance for others?
Hmmmm i wudnt say i change for someone specially, but depending on the ppl i hang around with.. if i like their style, i try to incorporate what htey're wearing into my wardrobe..
Re: Have you ever changed your appearance for others?
i wore an ugly, uncomfortable banaras saree for my mil's sake during my 9th mth pregnancy function (which she insisted on having). urgghh... neva again
Re: Have you ever changed your appearance for others?
oh folks, u are an extended family. :> smile
a certain young man, asked me once to never wear Pakistani shulwar kameez in front of him, he was just a dost. & we were friends for 4 years.
& out of my sense of patriotism & yes an attitude to let him know that he cannot put his value on my clothes , when i met him next time, i dressed in patyala shulwar, and lamba duppata, kangan, khusa, and kajal as well as a paranda. to him, i was backward, celebrating my heritage and rich cultural gift or traditional attire - it really took 5 hours to dress up like that.
yet, when he saw me like that, he refused to dine with me. & i argued. we were not friends any longer.
Some lessons are just meaningless, but while I experience them, they seem like eternity and full of anguish…
Re: Have you ever changed your appearance for others?
^ he needs to grow up…and can u post ur pic dressing up like that ![]()
Re: Have you ever changed your appearance for others?
Dushwari, that's a good way of testing someone's loyalty and tolerance. It's sort of like being 'punked'.
Re: Have you ever changed your appearance for others?
Why did it take u 5 hours to dress up like that? It shouldn't take more htan a half hour tops
