I dunno.. I have seen a few threads recently which are along lines which could have heated sectarian debates and worse.. insults thrown about.
I am pleasantly surprised that these threads discussed different opinions, and while ppl did not agree on all points, it was done in a fairly civilized atmosphere. maybe we have reached a critical mass of posters in religion forum who would rather discuss and share knowledge than try to win an argument.
I hope this trend continues, and I would invite ppl who otherwise dont frequent religion section to come contribute.
I don't think we need that section in the first place. The way I see it... what people believe in is none my business nor would I like to impose my beliefs on others. A heated debate over beliefs is for idiots..a discussion over them is a close second.
yesh the back and forth I am right you are wrong discussion to "win" an argument gets annoying.
worse is when 'champions' show up and ask questions with a sole purpose to put the other person's faith down.
but a healthy discussion even if it does not conclude in agreement is valuable, whether it is discussion on yajooj majooj, or dajjal, or even knowns and unknowns of specific topics.
I think a few ppl are really doing their best to keep threads positive and I am really happy to see that.
......I dont post in religion forum but I've seen their "preachings" just to "win" the argument in other forums. I've tried to catch the negative points in some posts of those religious posters.
Actually, I feel they just make us realize that we are bad muslims, seculars and moreover working for the cause of west for power and money.
Its really hurting and annoying perception of these religious champions.
Healthy discussion is always welcome.
We shouldnt have a religion forum cuz Islam is a way of life, we should be able to discuss it in each and every part of our life.
Secondly, I do agree its wrong to insult others to get your point through especially when our religion teaches us to be humble.(< i might have gone against that a couple of time :-s)
Thirdly, i dont think we should be upset if someones correcting us or even critisizing us. Infact, we should be open to it and research it more so that we can make decisions to the best of our knowledge.
Why not?..Have you forgot one of your religious champion have insulted Quaid-e-Azam by calling him secularist and hypocrite on this forum.
Now you are here to raise the slogan of Pakistan and Islam:snooty:
We are better muslim and better Pakistani like Muhammad Ali Jinnah…
You just want to screw other good muslims.

hmm...if this is true...then i think i should start visiting tht section again........:D
I should have been more specific in the title of the thread. i meant critical mass of sensible, respectful people who can discuss religious issues in a mutually respectful and civilized manner.

Its funny because I found that most of the ajlaf on this forum to be disrespectful, semi-illiterate and generally unaware of the logical rules to be followed in a debate. From the moment I began posting on this forum I have been insulted and victimized for my arab ethnicity and for being a muslim.
