Have we lost the passion to win?

What’s wrong with us? Why are we losing all the time? Why can’t we bit india? I am thinking about this and one thing I noticed in last few pak matches is that I never saw any passion in the players. Pakistani players are showing no aggression at all. Its not that they dont have abilities, they are probably as capable as India. But then i did not see enough passion. Is this because of captaincy? Coach? Because of national issues that pakistan is going thru? Hard to tell. Its always seen that once a team starts winning it keeps winning and once it starts losing it keeps losing. Is it, that for us, this losing pattern is getting extended?

What are your thoughts?

Re: Have we lost the passion to win?

Bhai every team has good and bad days. Given a few good overs and some luck any team can win. You win some you lose some. Learn to accept it. Pakistan did beat Aussies in the last 20/20. So no need to get emotional.

Re: Have we lost the passion to win?

Bhai we need Yousuf and Razzaq back even in 20/20 .... we have all tulley baaz batsmen and not even one (yes not even Younus) who can stay in the middle and still score at the rate of around 90-100 runs per ball.

Re: Have we lost the passion to win?

No we haven't lost the passion... just the ability, skills, and competence.

Let's face it, we are no longer a formidable cricket team. Our batting lacks quality and depth and our current bowling attack is mediocre at best.

I think South Africa, Australia and India are the teams to beat in this T-20 World Cup

I completely agree.

Scoring 90-100 runs per ball is a little difficult don't you think.

Re: Have we lost the passion to win?

Pak players always get scared when they watch men in Blue :stuck_out_tongue: unko Blue color ka phobia hai :hehe:

^ Man...................................... I always Pump in to read your posts.seriosuly....................It's full of wits..............

:K

Not true. I just watched Victory (the bollywood movie), and it seemed the batsman was would've easily scored that many runs per ball if the situation demanded it (especially against the bowling of Iftikhar Rao and Shoaib Malik). Even Brett Lee had no answer.

I dont quite agree to you. I know india/SA/Aussie would be favorites. But remember last time? Pakistan had lost big time in world cup and no one gave any points to pakistan and they made it to the final. If misbah had not played that deadly shot, we would be cherishing the moments of our victory. Each time I see that last over, I still get so upset.

It was the same team last time and its the same team this time. I just feel that we have lost some passion. Someone needs to come and give some confidence to the team. Make them feel that they can win. They have it. Just go for it. Who is mentoring them?? Are they on their own??? No ones backing them....

^ Without Misbah we w'd not even have been in a position to win the final and even if we had won it, w'd the best team have won the tournament? I think not. Austalia, South Africa and India were very much the favourites in that cup too.

My main concern is the batting which lacks depth (minus Yousuf and Razzaq) and relies heavily on Kamran Akmal and Misbah-ul-Haq. Younis Khan is unpredictable in the one-day/T-20 format. Butt and Afridi are way too inconsistent.

The bowling too is a cause for concern. Umar Gul, Ajmal and Afridi are ok but even Gul went for plenty (like 13 RPO!!) against India the other day

I second that! we need imran nazir to spice things up in the opening with Ahmad Shehzad! PS I am so glad Rana is no where to be found!

Re: Have we lost the passion to win?

This team is a bunch of losers. The team needs a leader who leads from the front and thats it.
Terrible situation at the moment. Just wondering what will happen against Netherland match.

I have been saying this for a while now...

WE just gotta admit that we are an average cricket team at the moment. We are no longer a force to reckon with...and I am not just saying this after today's hammering by England who are an average T-20 team themselves

We are currently short on quality, skills, depth, competence etc. almost everything that you associate with a good cricket or any sports team.

Furthermore the passion, the desire and hunger to win and the belief that we can win seem to have completely evaporated...

I won't blame Younis too much because he does not really have a great team at his disposal

We all probably need to lower our expectations over the next 5 years or so.

The current Pakistani team just cannot consistently compete with other good sides - South Africa, India and Australia - in world cricket

Re: Have we lost the passion to win?

see I told before they've fear of men in blue :p

I think the friendliness they(indians & Pakistanis) show on field should be shown on the battlefield and foreign policies against one another...
and the hostility they show politically should be shown on field...this will keep the interest in the matches alive....
