Re: Have some questions, need help
Hi Gupshupper,
Thought I would help you out with this post. I am getting married next year iA and probably visited every hall in the GTA. Here are some reviews of the halls I visited:
Apollo Convention Centre: I havent attended a wedding there but had heard great things about it, that it was very 'different' and modern. We went to visit it and absolutly HATED their management. The manager there was extremely rude and condescending. The price was NOT bad at all (about $55 per head + lighting + bartender fees +cutlery fees - yeah, now you know why we didnt bother). Anyways, the one thing we werent too sure about was their ceilings. Its very different - not your typical chandellier look. They said they would put in white lights instead of yellow lights - so that was another issue we had. Anyways, Apollo was a no.
Versailles Convention Centre: Same owners as Apollo, but management is A LOT better at this location. I have attended several weddings at this venue and their food is amazing. Since my date is on a long weekend, the price was $58 per head, but if you go for a Friday or Sunday its $33 per head. Very nice and classy and one thing we really liked about it was that the parking lot was huge and was attached to the hall. Last thing you want is aunties complaining about how much they had to walk in their heels. They were already booked :(
Le Jardin (Vaughan): This was literally my dream hall and the first one I dragged my parents and in-laws too when we were hall searching. The price was $40 per head (without food) and was absolutely beautiful. The only reason we did not book it was because they were giving us a tiny hall (we have a guestlist of 300-350) and my father thought the lobby for that section was too small. You should definetely check it out. They have a few halls and theyre all gorgeous.
Chandni Banquet Hall (Brampton): I love this hall - mainly cause they have amazinggggg food! I cannot stress on that. Their service is amazing too. We did not go for this hall either. Since the wedding is on a long weekend - they required a minumum guarantee of 600 guests at the event when we only have 350 max. The owner there referred us to their other location which was right across the street. Chandni convention is really nice and so is Chandni Gateway. Very nice and intimate and the price is about $32 per head, but I am sure you can bargain further. Amazing customer service.
Grand Empire (Brampton): Looks absolutely stunning from outside but was too gaudy for our taste. We wanted something more simple. I believe its about $75 per head. Since its brand new - it very well kept so far. You should check it out cause you might just end up liking it!
The Garden Banquet: I lovedddddd this hall. I believe the owner is from China (since he also owns the massive Mandarin in Brampton). We saw this place in the Winter so the whole 'garden' effect was not there but I am sure it will turn out gorgeous in Spring or Summer. The lobby was very spacious and they had some amazing ideas. I cannot recall the price of this venue (I believe its $40 per head without food). You will need a caterer from outside. I would recommend you go see them.
Burlington Convention Centre: I did not visit this hall, but my in-laws did. I do not remember the price of this venue but I did hear that it needed renovations.
Dreams Convention Centre: My friend is getting married at this venue. I have attended an event there before and I do know that their food is amazing. They are also reasonably priced, from what I recall. Although my friend is getting married here and I can guarantee that their food is amazing, when my in-laws visited the venue, they mentioned that it needed renovations. The owner said that they were going to have it renovated this summer, so you might want to follow up with this one.
Pearson Convention Centre: Absolutely breathtaking! Amazing hall, newly renovated, amazing management, reasonably priced and just beautiful! You should definately go check this out. It is near the highway so very easily accessible. They have just completed renovations (in feb) so it just looks amazing. Ask for Fernandez (or Fernando) when you visit.
Embassy Grand: I love this hall! Its very unique and very simple and was exactly what we were looking for. It is owned by the infinity group who also owns Terrace and West River. All three halls are gorgeous. Ask for Joe if you do call. He is amazing and will help you out a lot. Its an Italian hall.
Le Dome: I think it is the perfect hall for 125 people. Shaped like a dome, it is absolutely breathtaking. The managemnt was really good as well. I think it was about $30 per head without food. But you can always bargain.
Hope this helped! Just let me know if you need any more help or suggestions on other vendors :)
