**Lebanon reappoints pro-Sryian PM **

Lebanon’s outgoing premier - forced to quit last week amid opposition rallies - is almost certain to be re-appointed after a majority of MPs backed him.

Lebanese President Emile Lahoud is expected to confirm the appointment of Omar Karami as prime minister shortly.

Backing for Mr Karami came a day after a huge rally in Beirut in support of Syria, which keeps a tight grip on power in Lebanon, and Mr Lahoud. The US has repeated calls for a full withdrawal of Syria’s 14,000 troops.

This is only natural. He resigned after large protests suggested he was unpopular, but 10 times as many people protested yesterday in favour of his policies.

If anything, this shows why you should resign just because the mob is howling for your blood .... there might be a bigger mob that loves you but which won't show up for a few days.
