correct, cabbies would be just a group of people and while I still disagree with their approach, teh MSA has given it a cover of credibility, which is not right.
right to refuse would simply not fly if there is a discriminatory pattern there.
Faisal ! yiou should have asked me , once comming out of a club in eden prairie , minneapolis , the driver tells me...
Cab driver (SOmalian) : R u an Indian!
I: No! , I am from Pakistan.
Cab:R u a muslim.

and when he droped me he asked for a tip, to which I replied. In islam there is no concept of tipping and being a staunch muslim , I dont tip.
This situation is similar to pharmacists who have refused to dispense the morning after pill. A few states have passed laws (pushed by repubs) allowing such refusals while at least 1 state (Fraudia's) has passed a law outlawing such refusals. We've already have see by the above 'what if' examples that this is a slipperly slope. Morality discrimination has no place in the work place. Morality should not be allowed to trump job duties (assuming they are lawful). If you disagree with the job duties don't take the job, it's that simple.
do the somalian cabbies ask the passengers questions like
did you pack your own bags
are you carrying anything for anyone
were your bags outside your control anytime
I can just imagine the cabbies with their own screening rooms latex gloves and all to check for contraband...cuz ya know dem small liqour bottles are easy to hide
I wonder how many of these poor cabdrivers are now planning to adopt a don't-ask-don't-tell policy. Assuming what you don't know won't count against you.
