Re: Hats off to ECB and English team!

Not surprisingly a poster’s apology to ECB and English fans on bbc website has been greatly appreciated by everyone
**"**Dear ECB and the England Fans,
I would like to extend an apology to you as well as a thank you in respect of the current cricket series.
An apology for the extremely unacceptable outburst by Butt, which was mindless if I am being charitable but was in fact disgraceful in its content and delivery. It is sad that this man continues as the chairman of the PCB only due to his political connections.
I thank you for extending your hospitality to Pakistan to play their neutral games in England and an apology once more as that kind jesture was thrown back in your face as the series has unfolded.
So, there are no mitigating circumstances to this current sad sad affair, one which is self inflicted by some players and exarcebated by the chairman of the PCB and Pakistan’s High commissioner. It is only the loyal Pakistani fans which have sufferred as a result and will continue to do so until some major change comes about.
How that change will come, in what form and when I do not know. What is clear though is that unless these charlatons are removed they will drag down Pakistani cricket with it and I sincerely hope that does not happen.
Once again, thanks for your hospitality and trying to help. I know this is felt by the majority of the Pakistani fans who at this time are a little bewildered and shocked to even know how to react."

Heartbreaking that a loyal fan feels it necessary to apologise for the behaviour of government representatives. Thank you for your kind words though.

Amerh - the Pakistani fans have been a credit to their country this summer. I went to the ODI at Chester-le-Street and the test at Lord’s, and on both occasions there was a friendly atmosphere and great support for your team. It is a great pity that the PCB and the High Commisioner have not got the good manners of people such as yourself.
I think that all true cricket fans desperately want Pakistan to turn things round soon. Our great game needs a strong Pakistan team and here’s hoping that this summer’s events have been a turning point. You, and all of the other decent Pakistan fans, deserve some good news for a change.
The real villians (in addition to Salman Butt, Asif and Aamer) in this truly sad saga are Ijaz Butt and our bumbling High Commisioner who do not seem to know the ABC of how to act with diplomacy or dignity. They made matters even worse if anything with their unwarranted comments
