Hatred is a two way street

I’m one of the most vocal opponents of mullahism on gupshup and for good reason too I think. But there are also people who preach hatred unabashedly against Islam without any merit or sense of purpose.

Some people have a lot of free time on their hands if they create tens of websites just to discredit Islam. I guess someone feels threatened, which I can understand with the recent terrorism prominently associated with Islam, but to attack venomously other people’s faith takes something more then the usual distrust.

I understand what you are saying. However, lets not send any more traffic their way.

Mental note to self...Imdad can talk sense sometimes!

Yes sometimes. Imdad, we (meaning all Muslims minus you) are such monsters, why do you care? Go ahead and applaud our downfall.

Wake up mate,,, what down fall? You did it to your self I mean come is it that difficult to understand. what good a religion does to mankind.
Dogma demands authority, rather than intelligent thought, as the source of opinion; it requires persecution of heretics and hostility to unbelievers; it asks of its disciples that they should inhibit natural kindness in favor of systematic hatred.

^^ I like how u write

Let me attemot to engage my sister sher here. Baji, religion has many virtues. It helps you take your mind away from the everyday and concetrate whether to offer reverance, whether to celebrate your very existence, whether to thank something out there that has given you the ability to exist. So whether GOD is energy, whther god is allah, whether god is hanuman or Jesus or Yahweh...it s simply a reverence for something we don;t understand and until we achieve profundity (we can get into the whole argument about the feasibility of it and inifinite knowledge etc..but let's wait until we have a six pack ) On this journey to it, our names of that entity, change, new rules due to historical times come and go...but that entity remains...see where I am going with this.

So you can call it islam hinduism, judaism, or simply reverenace for the strings theory..whatever floats your boat, what allows you to go home and displace responsibility in the hands of someone or something that prevents your measily life from being a multicelled organism or stops the world around you from imploding...what ever that is, is GOD. SOme people study the quran, some the upanishads, some like me take the best of each or some like you who will try to explain to me how science is the best religion and in the end will agree.

Matsui, I not trying to explain that science is the best religion.... Why do you need a religion???? every single thing you try to explain here can be taken positivly without having to have BELEIVE in some entity higher up which plays no direct role in human life.... BUT if you call NATURE a god then yes I can understand. Nature does play direct role, in fact Nature defines life in genral. then again if nature is God then Human is part of God since Human is a tiny bit of nature as well. having said that, as much knowledge huamns obtain as close to God they will get,,and that leads us to beleive that Human has potential to move up from being a tiny bit of Nature to actualy BECOME God cos it is knowledge that empowers you and put you in control of things. So I don't realy have to beleive in Traditional god of the books or as it made out to be by religionist.

Like Matsui uncle said, God can be defined as an energy force, and energy as you seem to be very much aware plays an undeniable role in our very existance, in fact we too may be described by some as constituent packets there of.

Poeple like to personify this energy force and call it God, it is the pressence of something greater than our same minds can comprehend, including; may I take the liberty to add, yours.

You are drawing parallels with nature and god. Here are several key distinctions to be made. And lines to be drawn, what do you define as a god, and why does it bother you so much if others find comfort in what you see as merely a fanciful and elaborately weaved phychological security blanket.

You seem to be of the opinion that knowledge is power, I feel compelled to remind you that being the lowly beings that we are, some things are indeed beyound us. And like many other factors, knowledge too has its limitations. And to become an all knowing omnipotent being or force, one needs more than just the adequent number of braincells.

Once again God needs to be defined.

I'm afraid the rest of your argument was incoherant.

http://www.gupistan.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=149355

Poeple have an inate desire to satisfy their spirtual needs, to find a purpose and a reason. Some find comfort in a higher order a greater plan, and others in living for “God” whomsoever he may be. Others like yourself perhaps find that can indeed just live their life.

Some also look to religion for comfort, and/or guidance.

Whatsoever the personal resaons may be, we don’t have the right to judge.

Once again, and here i hold you equal to a mullah, it is one thing to make people think and annother to preach at them. What is “true” to you is not necessarily the case for others.

It is admirable to try and convert people ovr to the right side, but rather discusting to condem them and infer stupidity on their part.
