Salam sister,
I think as muslims we should use our wordings right. Because if you mean ex-jihadi its wrong connotation do you mean he is not doing any jihad now i.e. striving for the sake of Allaah has he stopped all that.
I think the right word would be someone who is forsaken something and who is come towards the right path if you mean jihadi in the sense of the wwestern media because coming towards the right path is in itself a jihad.

I think he's a tool.
He was always a tool making up outlandish claims while with al-Muhajiroun and no different today.

I believe "Jihadi" is a term used only by radical muslims for themselves, the right word is "mujahid" and I respect this word and its meaning in the light of Quran and Sunnah.
Believe me there are some only some muslims who call themselves jihadi or jihadist, they don't know that this word jihadi and their concept of jihad is wrong.
