KARACHI: Hassam Qazi, a famous TV actor, passes away on Saturday due to a severe heart attack at the Liaquat National Hospital (LNH). He was 50.
Hassam started his career from Quetta Television Centre, and within few years, he reputation was of an emerging star on drama scene.
His first play was Khali Haath, produced by Dost Muhammad Gashkori. Later, Kazim Pasha caste him in an Urdu serial Chaoon, in which he performed so well.
In the 90s’, he performed in a famous Urdu serial Marvi, produced by PTV Karachi Centre, and was overwhelmingly praised by the viewers.
On his demise, he was regarded as an asset of show biz field by the art-loving circles of the country.
Hasaam was one of those few actors such as Uzma Gilani, Firdaus Jamal, Abid Ali, Shafi Muhammad, Saba Hameed, Khayyam Sarhadi, Shakeel, Talat Hussain, Rahat Kazimi, Rubina Ashraf, Fatima Hafeez, Qaiser Niazamani and Fazeela Qazi, who are considered the top-rankers in the drama history of PTV.
In many drama serials such as Dard Key Rishtay, Des Pardes, Emergency Ward, Matti Ki Moorat, his performance was highly appreciated.
His body was rushed to Quetta for burial at Old Railway Graveyard at 10am on Sunday morning. Besides a widow, he left behind three children, two daughters and a minor son.
On Saturday, those who visited the LNH at around 3pm include: Haider Imam Rizvi, Ayaz Khan, Shagufta Ejaz, Qaiser Nizamani, Zartaj Ali, Ali Rizvi, Seema Ghazal and others.
All of them expressed deep shock and grief over the sad demise of their beloved colleague. They also expressed profound sympathy with the bereaved family and prayed for the departed soul.
