Speaking of Waris and Mehboob Alam’s acting…I think this drama and his character are the Pakistani versions of Godfather…You know all their faults and ruthless natures, but the way Mehboob Alam portrayed that Chauueee Sahab’s role, you start empathizing with him, especailly at the end when he refuses to leave his havelli…
Also you don’t recall Piyas…“Ja chali Ja hum allah kay fakir hain” (Ajab Gul)
You gotta see this drama if you have not seen it, it also stars Sohail Asghar, Shakeela Qureshi, a few others whose name escape my memory at the moment…
Some good memories. The new WB - thanks for posting some scenes from Tanhaiyaan, ankahi and dhoop kinare. Reading your post, made me laugh all over again :D
Sadzz - from what I remember Ashiyana starred Seemi Zaidi and was a decent family drama.
^ and do you remember when she wakes up at maybe 1.00 am or something and lets everyone wake up too cz she wanted to get ready and reach work in time as it was her first job. and in the end they realise it was not morning yet. then cz she reaches work early, she sleeps in her boss’s room and all the other staff of the office peek through the door.
and the way she makes that village man refuse to marry that girl she takes home with her.
in tanhaiyan, when sania locks qabacha up in the bird cage and throws keys in the pool. and the way qabacha read “shayeri” for her. oh my God, the way he reads it, it was sooooo funnny the way, she eats peanuts in the lawn and makes a mess and when qabacha goes to her to tell her to stop. she asks, “kya hai? mung phali mangnay aye hein”? he says, “ji nahi.” she says, “Acha? shakal se tau aisay hi lag raha tha.” you should see qabacha’s face then. and she says, “waise pata nahi kyun apki shakal dekh kar yateem khanay ka khayal ata hai.” oh, i can go on and on… there’s not just one scene.
i havent watched dhoop kinary much but whatever i can remember, it is good. when she forgets her stethoscope and when she goes to steal her boss’s car keys from his room. it was all hilarious. but it is more serious as compared to the first two.
TheNewannaBe…I had laugh reading your posts …brings back old memories…gosh i think i am going to watch Tanhayyan again…i have a very good copy of it…but its all in PAL version and my multi VCR is not working right now :hoohn:
There are so many amazing scenes in these dramas…specially when khala gets proposed and she faints…he just comes at the door with his miserable face and asks " App mujhe sey shaadi kareingi" :D…and when khala ji comes to use his phone and her sandal comes out of her feet and lands on qabach’s hands hehhe
NewWannabe. You are right, the list can go on and on. Good old times That cage scene was funny. Also in another scene, Qabacha was practicing to be cool in frotn of saniya and he tries to walk in the room with style and throw cool dilaogues. He does it once, twice and third time he takes his glasses off and Saniya actually comes and sits in the room, Qabacha walks in and says “Miss sania , mai aapse kuch kehna chahta hoon”, she replies “jee kahiye”. His glasses are off and he thinks he imagined it and he goes on with his bakwass That was hillariuos! And that scene where Faraan tells him the ways to commit suicide! What acting, what creative writing!
Jal_Pari - i really really wanna state more but too many interruptions at work right now
yes Saby, i remember. what an embarrasement it was for qabacha. and do you remember in ankahi, when they eat on their guests arrival. they way they put food into their plates cz they want to eat less. “mamoo” puts a drop of oil from the gravy and sana murad pours a little gravy in her plate and immediately pours part of it back into the dish. HAHAHAHA…
My all time favorite has to be 'Shab Deg' starring Ali Aejaz and Irfan Hashmi. It didn't have the wild girl of Haseena but it portrayed the authentic culture of Lahore. Ali Aejaz moves out of a pind and tries to adjust in the city life trying to cover up his paindoo-punna. The dialogue delivery is superb and hilarious.
It would be unjust to single out one. The header play is indeed a Milestone with a climax
thats so catchy and absorbing in ‘Sania’ of Tanhai’yaan.
I would add “Alpha-Bravo-Charlie” to my shopping cart any time, any season , any network.
I guess its the ozzing quality of Pakistani plays where glamour is on the back stove on slow simmer and the main epic and subject matter is in limelight :k:
Any one who would dare to change this proven trend, shall fall face first
I would have to watch tanhayyan again minus all the sad/crying parts
I remember when I was little and if someone would have a baby boy and they would ask what name they should give him, I would tell them to name him Qabacha hehe It used to make everyone mad. That name Qabacha is so fascinating
qabacha looks at sania sitting in the lawn eating peanuts and throwing the shells all over the ground. he almost has a heartattack (looks so from his face). he goes to her and....
qabacha: "AHEM..."
sania: "kya hai? mung phali mangnay aye hein? kamal hai. 2 rs. pao hai. khud ja kar le lein."
qabacha (angrily): "ji nahi. mein MUNG PHALI (stressing) mangnay nahi aya hun."
sania: "acha? shakal se tau bilkul aise hi lag raha tha. waise pata nahi kya baat hai, apki shakal dekh kar yateem khanay ka khayal kyun ata hai."
after the above, i dont remember the lines exactly.
