Re: Hashim Amla vs Muslim Cricketers of IPL
**It's a matter of principle, in Islam we aren't allowed to buy or sell alcohol. Promotion via advertising and taking money from alcohol sponsorship falls under that umbrella.
players should be using their player power to stop alcohol sponsorship in sports just like tobacco sponsorship has been stopped in the past. There's already too much under age drinking and smoking, using sports to promote these vices isn't acceptable.**
You answered your own question. Islam says we cannot buy or or sell alcohol. These players are not selling or buying any alcohol. Cricket is these people's profession and their job and in any sport you have different sponsors. Whether its alcohol or something else, these players are not telling or forcing the people to buy or sell the product.
There is muslims who work for companies in North America and Europe and some of those companies sponsor alcoholic parties for its employees or does bbq's which have pork in it, now does that mean we stop working for that company?
I personally work in the hotel industry and Mashallah I have been successful so far in this industry. The hotel I work for sells alcohol and has a bar in the some of the high end suites and when guests ask I tell them in these rooms they can find alcohol. Now am I wrong? Its my job, I support my parents with this job. The people who are gonna drink, are gonna drink even if I dont tell them where the alcohol is, and the people who dont drink, wont even if its in their room. Is a simple concept.
Like I said previously, its a mere Logo on the players shirt...dont make a big fuss about it. Don't make Islam look like such a tough religion in front of the world...people like you are making Islam look like an extremely tough and difficult religion to follow in this world. Islam is a peaceful religion so please keep it that way.
