Has your phone company reversed the rate hike to call pakistan?

I thought PEMRA reversed the rate hike as per the order of the supreme court. However, my phone company, Call Select, is still charging the higher rate. Upon calling them, I was informed that they haven’t gotten the final green light from Pakistani authorities to lower the rate.

I have a suspicion that that’s BS. I think they are trying to make some easy money by keeping the rate high for as long as they can but I’m not sure. What has been your experience with your long distance service provider. Have the rates gone down?

For those in Canada, what do you do if the company is trying to gouge you? I am thinking of contacting CRTC to see if the company is telling the truth. Are there other, possibly better, options?

Re: Has your phone company reversed the rate hike to call pakistan?

Well I use Localphone and they are saying this:
“The recent tax on international calls to Pakistan that caused a sharp rise in prices is currently being disputed in the Lahore High Court, but has yet to be definitively abolished. We are keeping a close eye on the situation with our partners, and as soon as they are able to reduce their prices we will pass these savings on to our customers. Thank you for your patience.”

I trust them because in the past they have lowered the rates as soon as they can.
