I recently found out I talk during sleep. I don’t know how long this has been going on for but a cousin came over for a sleepover and noticed I mumble during different times at night. She couldn’t figure out if it was coherent or just gibberish but apparently I sleep talk now.
What bothers me is what if this is a permanent thing and I talk about real things going on in my life which wouldn’t be a big deal for right now, but what if I get married and I start hating my mil (we seem to get along fine right now but who is to say it’s always going to be like that). I’m scared I’ll curse her out during my sleep and my husband might hear it and he’ll know how I really feel about her. Or I mumble about some dark well-kept secret of mine (once again dont have any for right now but people become all weird and secretive after marriage, I might turn into one of those).
This has really started to worry me. Has sleep-talking ever caused rifts between couples? Can something I say then be held against me or am I just overreacting? Help!
lol, I think you may be over thinking this. A lot of people talk in their sleep once in a while while some do it often. I'm sure if you did it ALL the time you would have heard about it through your parents or siblings. My younger brother talks in his sleep all the time and usually it's plain gibberish, we just laugh it off.
I remember when i was younger I was worried I wad going to blurt the name of my school crush out in my sleep and then I'd wake up in the morning with my mom asking who so and so was, lol. It never happened, so I suggest you not worry about it.
I know it doesn't answer your question so let's wait for the couples to come in and give their 2 cents.
had a roomie who did this. he was LOUD at times. but could never make out what he was on about. one time, even recorded it to play back to him coz he never believed me about his sleeptalking.
even if you do say things while asleep and your hubby can make out what you are saying, you could just say it was all a dream - you were being eaten alive by a monster with the same name as the MIL blah blah.

Reminds me of a time when my sister was studying late into the night and her roommate who was sleeping across the room wakes up suddenly, gives off a sinister laugh and goes "look who's laughing now". She then goes back to her peaceful sleep as if nothing happened. Managed to scare the bejeezus out of my sister though.
i use to wake up at middle of night speak something or have a big laugh and go back to sleep,my friends were scared of me.i don't remember any of this things, they even told once i got from bed and started running and came back and slept dunno how much truth to this,if this was true thank god i was staying at top floor, never tried to jump :p
we had a senior who was a hardcore christian follower, and a graveyard backside of our hostel.,he thinks some evil spirit takes position of my body since i have weak mind.
he use to spray some kind of holy oil across his bed from spirits not entering the room, felt really stupid, these things happend only when i was thinking too much and having lot of thoughts or tense feeling
i have stopped doing this things now,may be some occasional talking
