has the supreme court of pak gone bananas?

for six months jamia hafisa goons were terrorising the residents of islamabad. what was the supreme court during this time? well, it was kind of busy hauling abrar-ul-haq to court because a khatoon named parveen was offended by a song of abrar about a parveen who was not so naik.

when the government finally decided to move against the jamia hafisa scum, supreme court justice decided to take sue moto notice of the standoff when the army operation was fairly close to zero hour. by diverting government’s attention at a very critical time, supreme court’s action could have seriously jeapordised the success of the operation. supreme court interference could have altered the timing of the operation besides giving deshudgarh more time to prepare against coming onslaught.

bottom-line supreme court judges are no different from people on top of organisations like pia or wapda. state of pak judicial system is ample proof of this. today supreme court decided to step in the arena of economic policy by stating that govt should not privatise profitable public sector enterprises. supreme court neither has the ability to analyse effectiveness of economic policy nor does it have the mandate to implement economic policy.

today lot of pakistanis think judiciary is a white knight. my view is that supreme court in its present shape can do huge harm to pak. afsoos.

Re: has the supreme court of pak gone bananas?

I agree king faisal. Unfortunately, these doctors who're setting out to cure everything have everything going wrong for themselves, not since March but since 1950s, they suddenly are like one of the inmates in a mental ward who considers himself better and acts like a doctor treating others, but he's as worse. I know people will say it could also be true for the Army, but inspite of its many flaws, being thrust into politics by politicians and their weird games, they did try and make things work, what did the judiciary ever do, on national level to control politicians and army rule or individual level, say for rape, theft, murder, illegal property takover, karo-kari victims!? If they were as righteous where are the suo moto notices for commoners' issues, why didn't they challenge the age old conflict between influence and the suppressed through their powers? Why were they discovered only when political mileage was attainable now?
Judges & lawyers are no saints, and we know that, not the current lot, nor any lot from the past. The attempts to paint them golden right now won't hide the true faces that Pakistanis know for over 50 years.

Speaking of the session judge who proceeded to LalMasjid on 9th Jul when the govt/ulema delegation was there for talks, the judge wanted to become a hero too, and he thrust himself in with a loudspeaker asking the Mullah Ghazi Rasheed and Co. to come out surrender and so on...some are of the view that this also played a critical role in putting the militants off any possibility for talks that evening, coming out for discussion or letting anyone in...

Re: has the supreme court of pak gone bananas?

I am happy to see that Pakistanis are seeing what CJ & co really are: peons and typists i.e. leeches of Pak society.

Re: has the supreme court of pak gone bananas?

Great. Dont let any opportunity go for taking a cheap shot at the CJ. He is on "forced leave". U want him to take suo moto notices from his home?

Re: has the supreme court of pak gone bananas?

I'll keep pointing out that he is a peon and a typist and his lawyers threatened to harm his colleagues and the institution whose sanctity he supposedly wanted to protect.

Don't wait for me to dig up the statements his lawyers made, just do a search yourself.

Re: has the supreme court of pak gone bananas?

Sure, if u like to repeat urself. I am not digging up anything. The verdict approacheth. Lets see who is declared peon and who is not.
